badger1243
Saw a reddit post about people's favorite fallout character's from the series, Fallout 3 being the game that introduced me to the series, I decided to return to DC and give it another play through. Installed a few mods using NMM, got FOSE all set up, used BethINI, etc. Btw I should mention I've been doing this for years with New Vegas, Skyrim, and plenty of others, easily squeasing in a solid 100-200+ mods with high end graphics and more than optimal preformance so I like to think I know what I'm doing and I'm definitely not tha modding ametuer I was several years ago when I started with, well, Fallout 3 actually. I'll put the mod order down below, it's not even that many mods. To list the issues, one of the first I encountered was this weird glitch where my character would stop in place have a seizure for a few moments and I could tab out and back in and it'd fix it. Then when I started encountering loading screens when entering new areas (i.e. Rivet City), it'd quite frequently load up the area but then freeze on the laoding screen which again was fixed with a quick tab out-in. Then I decided to go to the metro, Anacostia Crossing Station to be precise, and the game put me into an infinite loading screen that I couldn't fix and crashed when I tabbed out. Made a few google searches to try and resolve the issue myself. First I tried to edit the fallout.ini by changing bUseThreadedAI=0 to 1 and added iNumHWThreads=2 as per a recommendation in one of google searches. Didn't work. I tried limiting my cores to run only 1 as per another suggestion someone posted in a similar thread, didn't work, in fact it made the performance drop quite a bit. Since I own an old physical copy I made sure that it was properly updated with the latest official update which was also in one of the sticky posts on steam but that didn't work either. And other suggests I've read didn't seem relative to the problem I was experiencing and were directed towards fixing something else and thus I was unable to find anything and now I turn to you guys. Thanks in advance for any and all help. badger1243
Well I figured it out, kinda weird I didn't realize this earlier but to update for anyone who comes across similar issues the problem lies with the fact that fallout 3 and many other games have a 2gb limit, so when trying to enter large areas, especially with a mod such as NMC's textures, the game crashes because the area requires more than 2gb to load. This can be easily fixed by downloading this program: http://www.ntcore.com/4gb_patch.php and patching the fallout 3, or fose launcher executables to increase the limit to 4gb or by installing a 4gb mod such as the one used for F:NV and other games found here: http://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/55061/?. Hope this helps anyone who comes across the issue as well.
M48A5
You do have a load order problem and you can expect problems as you play the game. Please read the recommended load order at both the FWE description page and the Fellout page. You need to remember that compatibility patches must load after the last mod that is being patched. Use only one of the Optional Restore Tracers plugins for FWE, not both. If you need a tool to sort your load order, do not use LOOT. Use B.O.S.S. for Fallout 3. How does B.O.S.S. do things differently than LOOT. I assume LOOT is more appropriate for Fallout NV than Fallout 3?

Someone with more knowledge about the workings of the sorting tools might be able to answer you question. However, from the load lists I have seen here, LOOT never did order Fallout3 mods correctly. Just about all the load order problems that are posted here are caused by LOOT. You are correct in the assumption that LOOT works with FNV and later games. It has never worked for FO3.
