NMM skipping launcher, and game no longer on steam

As stated in the title, when I launch SKSE through NMM, the game is no longer loading the TESV launcher, and is going straight to the game. When I try to open it manually, it opens my steam and tries to prompt me to install the game through steam.

Now what confuses me is this(incoming wall of text): I first installed Skyrim (NOT the special edition) through steam on my D drive. After a clean install, I ran the game once, then closed it. Afterward, I installed SKSE through steam. No problems so far. I followed a guide on modding my game, and after painstakingly installing the mods that I liked, I was left with just the ENB remaining. While installing the mods, I would consistently run LOOT and run the game to test its stability. Each time I ran the game through SKSE from the NMM, it would open the launcher, then I would start the game from there. This was as of last night, no problems at all. Today, as I was getting ready to change the settings in the launcher as per the instructions to start setting up the ENB, the game would launch in a lower resolution, and it would skip the launcher entirely. When trying to run the game through the system files, the game would then prompt me to install the game again through steam. This was when I noticed that Skyrim was greyed out in my library. Nothing has changed between the time when I tested it last night up until now, so the sudden change is really rather confusing.

If Steam is already running, SKSE should bypass the Skyrim launcher.

If Steam is not running, SKSE will cause Steam to run and then the Skyrim launcher. I have always loaded Steam first and so cannot state with any certainty if SKSE even works in-game under this scenario.

 

I cannot comment on why Steam thinks your installation is not present as that has never happened to me.

I just now tried running SKSE with NMM while steam was closed, and it opened steam back up and prompted me to install the game once again. I ran it again the exact same way, and the game launched right away again, skipping the launcher. I think what I'll try to do is install the game again in the exact same place it is right now. If that somehow causes some catastrophic failure on my game, I guess I can always start over, since I've got all the mods loaded into NMM anyways.

Well I'll be.. That actually worked! Installed in the same library it was already installed in.

Steam rediscovered all of the existing files and reinstalled a few files on its own, then it was back in my library. I had to run TES5Edit again, since I figured what I just did was akin to the file validation thing that steam does, and now it's launching again normally as its supposed to. Now I can get the ENB up and running.

I've got no idea how all of this happened in the first place, but thank goodness it's back to normal now.
