SInister477
I'm not sure if this is possible or if it's been answered, but I have very little space left on my pc. I was hoping to move the larger mods from the /Data folder to the usb and play from that. I'm not sure if there's a way to make FoMM check or read different folders for mods, but if someone could clear that up for me that'd be great Thanks in advance :)
dubiousintent
The game (let alone any mod manager) is not designed to look for files it expects under the "Data" folder to be in more than one location. But that applies to installed/active plugins; not download packages. (See the "Terminology" section of the "FNV General Mod Use Advice" article if you are not clear on the differences in those terms.) When you initially configure FoMM you are asked for the location of the “Mod Directory” and “Install Info”. The default location is under your game folder. You can point either or both elsewhere, such as to your USB drive. Just be aware that the USB must be present every time you fire up FoMM or "unexpected results" may occur. I would be comfortable with moving "Mod Directory" (downloaded packages) to an external device, but less so with the "Install Info". Frankly, you are better advised to engage in some "spring cleaning" of your hard drive and moving other less essential or hardly used data or programs off the disk to DVDs or other less volatile storage than a USB. Emptying the "trash can", clearing out old (more than a year) MS updates from the "Windows\temp" folder, and defragmenting (you need at least 10% of total disk space free to do this) can usually free up a substantial amount of space. If not enough, time to save for an additional drive. -Dubious-
Mktavish
+1 to the spring cleaning ... which I would guess you have some video & or audio files on your hard drive that could easily be put on disk vs trying to split up data pertaining to gaming ? Mktavish
Holy crap I just did a tally of all the stuff I have related to F03 & FNV ... between core files , mods , mod tools & other assets. It's around 60 gigs ... and I'd say I only have about 50 mods downloaded from the nexus between the 2.But I have duplicate files between C:/Games and C:/Desktop .... so some spring cleaning of mine would probably reduce that by a substantial chunk. I guess it's easily ignored with a 1 terabyte hard drive desktop that still has 70% free space. @ the OP ... is this a laptop your running , and only have a USB port (No disk drive) ?
