snug
Hello all,I've been away from the game for over a year. Thought I'd come back and lose myself in the game again. Hence, I started looking at the armors and weapons and stuff, and was stunned by all of the different types of stuff. It's fairly daunting for a newbie like me. So, what's the difference between UFF/Roberts/TFF/Exnem etc...? Are they compatible? Do I have to choose which faction (lol) to go with and stick with it? Which is newer? Which has more stuff? Which one is more popular/better? What can I do to find out for myself? I mean, there's 200 pages of stuff to look through. It's going to take me days just to look through things, much less have any clue of how to compare the differing body factions (meat markets). If I choose a new body mesh, do I have install overwriting armors for all of the different types of armor in the game? Is there a way to simplify these tasks? Help. I'm overwhelmed. snug
Ok. So I did find a few other posts about this sort of thing, and I see that they are incompatible with each other. So, let's simplify, which version has the most stuff to choose from? And do I have to download new armors for all of the normal in-game stuff (daedric, ebony, dwemer, mithril,etc...)? I like Divine Avenger's CM's, does it matter what body i use with DA's CM's?
ryanmihalic
I understand your feeling of being overwhelmed with all of the awesome bodies out there to try, so here's my 2 cents: As far as plethora of "stuff" for a body, Exnem has the most & seems to be the body of choice for most of the modders out there. While it is an awesome body & the amount of mods for it is quite impressive, I don't really like how it looks, so I don't use it. However, the HG version of the this body that just came out (http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=15802) is just amazing & I might consider switching. That being said, I use the UFF body but the Ramy edition because I like the textures better & all of the UFF mods out there seem to work with it. http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=11295 I don't use the Robert & haven't really tried it. I screwed up my game once trying to switch from UFF to Exnem so I'm very hesitant to body-snatch anymore. It looks good in the screens I've seen though. As far as downloading totally new armors & whatnot, that's up to you. There are several mods out there that update the vanilla armor & clothing sets for a specific body, but you could get away without them (it's worth the work though in my opinion). As for DA's CM's, I don't think it matters because that just uses creature bodies for the companions. Also, if you install any of the CM mods, the females/males will use whatever body you currently have installed (for the most part anyway). This is all coming from my personal & totally unprofessional experience with body modding & modding in general, so keep that in mind.

snug
Hey thanks guys. That's helpful. It's taking me days to go through all of the thousands of files on here now. But that's ok, I've just ordered SI, and I suppose I've got something to do while I wait for it arrive! I've still got to wade through Misc/Gameplay/and Armor/Weapons. I think each of those might take a day, but at least now I can rule out most of the body types which will make the armor section quicker. Sounds like, from a utilitarian point of view, that Exnem's is the way to go by virtue of it's larger selection. I have now looked at the different body types, and to my untrained eye they all look good to me, and I can't really tell the difference; that is, they all look like women, and they're all hotter than vanilla. lol It really is too bad that there isnt a utility that could combine the different meshes and randomly assign the new body shapes, hairs, faces, eyes, etc... to each of the PC's that came with the game. Now that would be the greatest utility of all. A mixer that upon initial start-up of a new game would randomly change the appearance of all the NPC's. I wonder if there exists a genius who could implement such a remarkable thing.
SickleYield
Not likely. At the moment it's hardcoded that only one body can be used for all the characters in the game. It can be worked around with scripting, but the only person working on a project like that (Breeze at the Official Forums) quit in order to work on flying shapeshifters instead. I use and mod for FF. Here's a list of stuff available for it: http://www.bethsoft.com/bgsforums/index.php?showtopic=816205

So in theory, you "could" create a several NPCs using different bodies and could replace or add to the existing NPCs but that would be one heck of an undertaking. OnyxNightBlack
For those interested, this site presents a side by side comparison of the different body replacers (The naughty bits are censored, so it's not quite adult-only): http://sanitycontrol.com/oblivion/ Most popular mods/armor compilations seem to use Exnem, but there is already a whole lot of stuff being adjusted for TFF. For males there is pretty much not much avaible anyway, besides alienslof's Goth Shop, which is a pity.
