Obviously, if you read the thread, you would see that it is an arguable point...

The Arginians might win if they where in the right terrain like swamp or forest

Yes, but Much of Tamriel is not Swamp or Forest. Vvardenfell? Mostly wastes. I'd presume the same with the rest of Morrowind. I think the only provinces with Forests and Swamps are:

The Black Marsh

Valenwood

Cyrodil

And of course, I feel Im ust state this once more:

In any of those terrains, the Imperial Army in all it's might would be broken like a twig by the simplest of hit-and-run strategies.

I would go for Nords, while I agree that the majority are simple-minded brutes and bloodthirsty fighters, given proper direction and unity by a strong leader, they could be a threat to Tamriel. All they would need is discipline and patience, something that they are not really known to excel in...

Edit: Just read the Morrowind book "Children of the Sky" to find out the incredible power that the highest level nords can achieve.

Actually, they do have armies, they conquered Morrowind once before. As for weapons and armour, you need look no further than any decent smith in Vaardenfell to find Nordic Claymores and Broadswords.

They craft their own armor and weapons and love violence and fighting. I believe in my opinion that they would be a formidable force, but would be better contracted as shock troops in another factions army.

I've decided to make an objective point on each race and their greatest threat.

Argonians: Very dangerous in a marshy land. They are numberous in Morrowind but the land in Morrowind is against them.

Khajid: Only a theory but I think the Khajid would hook up with the Argonians since both races are slaves and are seeking for the right opportunity to get freedom back.

Imperials: Very strong army's, very discipline and very well-known with warfare. Their legions can easily overrun any unorganised army. The weak side of the Legion is the fact they contain members of several races.

Dunmer: Enormous numbers but divided. Many say they will unite under Hortator but who has played the main quest knows that even if a Hortator is chosen nothing changes. The Tribals remain seperated from the others and the Houses keep backstabbing each other. The dunmer get their strength out of their numbers.

Orcs: Problably the best warriors on Morrowind. They are well known with forging and warfare. The Orcish respect and frienly behaviour towards the Legion makes them even more dangerous. The Orcs have no known weakness and are therefore one of the most dangerous races on Morrowind. They might lack patience.

Nords: Fierced warriors who are like the Orcs well known with warfare and forging.

They are very strong men and women who are not to be underestimated. Unfortunatly they lack patience and are not the brigtest kind on Morrowind.

Bretons: Most of the Bretons are religous or wizards. They are no warriors and have very low numbers. I believe the Bretons may remain neutral in any conflict.

High Elves: Most same like Bretons.

Wood Elves: Very weak in combat but might serve well as archers. Wood elves are feared for their sneakyness. Better keep an eye open for a little wood elf.

This is a objective opinion. Any with comments please note.

And your conclusion? BTW - Redguards?

In any war you must balance organised, strategic fighters against guerilla tactics, equipment and organisation against weight of numbers, effectiveness of ranged weapons (including magic) against fierceness and toughness, unity againt factionalism etc. I suspect that in a real conflict the Nords, Redguards and possibly the Orcs would be mercenaries and would fight for the party most able to satisfy their particular needs - money, alcohol, whatever. Bosmer, Khajiit and Argonians might be the guerillas but with/against whom would they fight? The Dunmer practise slavery and the Imperials allowed it to continue.

In a free for all I hold that the Dunmer would win by sheer weight of numbers but if a mercenary army or guerilla army was brought into the picture it would be harder to say. Ultimately, as we can see in the world today, guerilla tactics can wear the 'winners' down to the point where they pull out. An organised mercenary force of Nords, Redguards and Orcs would be hard to defeat on the assumption that their paymasters could muster their own force too.

Maybe the question we should be considering is - if the Dunmer mounted an offensive against the Imperials, how would the other races side? It is hard to believe any of the minority races starting a war. If there was an invasion of Nords from Skyrim, changing the balance of numbers considerably, you would need to consider how the other regions of Tamriel would respond. IMO quite a different question.

The imperials could not win at all. Their numbers are spread thoughout the other provinces and these groups would easily be defeated. Once they are down the capital in the midle would be overwhelmed by the othins since it is in their way if getting to others. THe numbers at the capital would be very small with their others from the provinces destroyed. The imperials would be in for the fight of their lives with their numbers dwindling and rhe attacks from all direction. There would be no way for them to protect themselves. To fight off one army they would have t send their people to one spot to counter while they get attacked from a different direction. THey would end up the first to go reduardless of the discipine that they have or the money. Their reasources will be stretched to their limits and their would be no way of protecting their lands. Even a well dicipiled army can loose if there are many constant rebellions from the provinces just like the roman empire with its well diciplined army eventually did loose.

In the end i would say that the dunmer would win. The dunmer was sronger than the imperial army in full. The imperials tried to take morrowid by force and failed. When trying to take it they suffered some many losses that they had to form atreaty in the end and because of that it was the last province to become a part of the empire.

THE IMPERIALS COULD NOT WIN.
