prinzasriel
Alright so I'm playing a relatively lightly modded NV (38 mods total) and I keep having this very odd sound glitch or bug with my companions where it sounds like something is stuck to or inside them. It sounds a bit like the noise dead npcs make while flopping about when the physics engine spazzes out. This ONLY happens after combat and only when the companion walks to follow me and gets louder and louder the closer they get to me. The only way to make it stop is for me to save and reload the game, or dismissing said companion. I've had this problem with both Veronica and Boone so far. I have tried asking lord google in several different ways and the only thing that came close to describing my problem was an archived post I found on reddit and the author never said whether or not they were able to fix it. I am certain it is coming from my companion since this doesn't occur at all when I'm flying solo. Has anyone else experienced this and if so, please let me know if and how you fixed it. dubiousintent
Pretty sure this is a "clipping" issue. There is a mod to fix it. Please see the "Issue - SOUND - Background Noise bug" entry (at the bottom) in the "Fallout NV Mod Conflict Troubleshooting" guide. -Dubious- Edited October 8, 2020 by dubiousintent
KiCHo666
That most often happens when explosives were used in combat. NPC/Companions stay in semi-ragdoll mode (even if they weren't knocked down) that freak out when you're not looking at them.
dubiousintent
Thanks. Added to the issue "cause". -Dubious- Edited March 31, 2017 by dubiousintent
ArteonTarchin
maybe its a little late to say that, but opening the console on pc, clicking the said companion and typing -resurrect- command seems to work.
dubiousintent
Thanks. Added as "Solution-1b" to that entry. -Dubious-
Jimro
I have had this exact same problem occur with multiple companions.I discovered when I was in a battle, if I hit VATS and switched who was being targeted, when I spun around and targeted one of my companions that was making that noise, she was sprawled out flat on the ground like she had lost all her bones.Normally, as soon as I looked at the companion, not in VATS mode, they immediately restored to their correct standing posture and the noise stopped.I did discover once that when a companion made that sound, I could swing around very quickly and see said companion splayed out in some weird shape, but then quickly restored to normal mode.I will try to resurrect option to see if that fixes the issue.
