Deleted2433418User
So... I´m doing a new playthrough because,bored.. and cool things like Fusion city and,oh,wow, thank you,Sim Settlements..yay.. one mod allows me to get a challenge and a STORY(hint, hint Bethesda( and the other allows me to Zone out a settlement and just leave the buggers to do their thing(again,Beth, you should have done this from the freaking start) but now.. i´m sort of tempted to take the train to nuka world.. did it before and got sick by the inherent brain-altering gasses in said train making me go from Beth-sanctioned Julie Andrews to psychotic Hildebeest in a matter of minutes.. i know Vault-tec and other operatives had a field-day before the big whammo but, seriously?? why?.. no matter ...my question is or questions.. if i play along and become the Grand Poobah of Raiders ununited.. and then raid and conquer settlements that some peasants toiled and labored to make .. well,adequate.. can I.. when sanity hits me and i decide those Raider bungholes are better of dead.. retake said settlements? given the irrational nature of the DLC itself it should be possible but.. nothing plays the tune you paid for in the Jukebox so.. anyone know if it´s possible to go.. "hey i had a Brainfart, but i´m all good now.. look i saved you again" and just be palsy with Preston and the other saps again??

CiderMuffin
eh, fusion city has a lot of bad writing for example trying to half-assedly tie in the west coast as having people from the NCR travel months just to go to a brothel when the Strip and New Reno (Both cities having a history of gambling and prostitution) aren't far, hell New Reno IS part of the NCR. Also Nuka-World makes sense if you take into consideration none of the factions have a goal of making the Commonwealth a unified force or have numerous problems. Under the raiders you have troops stationed in the settlements you take over and your forts send out patrols of raiders. The Minutemen aren't trying to create a nation, the BoS aren't staying there permanently, the railroad is only about freeing synths and slaves and the Institute want to stay underground. The Minutemen are also a volunteer army making it not exactly the most ideal form of securing power because even trying to step on the toes of one settlement that wants to be independent but still send support with food and stuff then you either have to make them join by force or leave them alone. There is also while you're the general you don't have complete control over the Minutemen, you try to advance your own position you're out. The Minutemen are too loosely-controlled and with none of the other factions interested in making a government in the Commonwealth what's left to bring peace and order? Raiders who see you as the most bad-ass of the bad-asses. Becoming a raider overlord makes sense you just have to role-play a certain way, you can still stay the same character and still choose a raider army over a volunteer army. Anywho yes you can take back settlements if you decide to go the kill all raiders idea.
Deleted2433418User
thanks.. I totally agree with your dissection of the various factions.. The Railroad are only left alive this time because i need them to get the fusion city Quest, normally i just throw a zillion nukes at the sorry sjw´s.. and yes, some of the writing in fusion City is a bit.. off.. but still better than the oh,so many incomplete plots beth took the time to hint at in various terminals and then left out.. the BoS are my choice of factions simply because they are organised and have some kind of plan.. again the shoddy implementation of the factions are all down to Beth hurrying production and thus, cutting out the meat (story).. because i so completely enjoy New Vegas(bugs,CTD´s and all) i had hopes for FO4.. sadly they were never fulfilled.. but ,thank you for clearing up my question.. I think i´ll just mosey round and explore the complete map,Far Harbor included, and then go "Human nature " and drown the Commonwealth in blood to satisfy my megalomaniac cravings :-)
Moraelin
Well, as CM was hinting, if you want to, you can just go Open Season on the raider bosses, take your settlements back, and then Preston's your BFF all over again. Not sure why you'd want him as your pal, but the option is there. Hell, you don't even HAVE to side with the raiders in the first place. You can go Open Season right after you vent Colter's skull. You don't even really have to talk to Gage first. Just head straight ahead when you exit the arena, talk to the slave at the market, and go Open Season. Or just start shooting raiders as soon as Porter lets you out. The Gauntlet and being taunted every few steps for the amusement of some raider is plenty of reason to just start shooting holes in every one of them. Or if you want to RP a reason to go all Punisher on them, you can - talk to Gage (if nothing else, to see WTH you just stumbled into,) - talk to the 3 gang leaders as instructed (again, always a good idea to figure things out first,) - explore their bases while you're there, read all their terminals and notes, and discover thay're all not just evil, but comic book villain kinda over-the-top evil, - talk to the slaves in the market, and then you can be pretty confident that if you're character isn't anyhwere between fully amoral and serial-killer psycho, they'd be horrified and want to stop the whole gang of evil asshats, rather than lead them to greatness. Thart's the way I played it on my Frank Castle playthrough anyway. In fact, that was why I made the costume, even. If there ever was a good reason to wear a skull logo on the chest and go on a vengeful rampage, NW was it. Then again, in other playthroughs I just decided that I was a psycho ass-hat all along, and that was even before NW came out
