Question about laptop power vs modding

OK so i literally just started learning how to mod today, been playing Skyrim for years and paying for the premium service here for months now but haven't sat down and put the time in to do this until now.

Also if this is the wrong part of the forum to post this my apologies but again...new to this. I am curious, in the opinion of someone more technically savvy than I am, what I may expect about loading multiple mods with my laptop.

Copied from the bestbuy website this is what I'm playing on...

MSI - GT72 Dominator Pro G-034 17.3" Laptop - Intel Core i7 - 24GB Memory - 1TB Hard Drive + 256GB Solid State Drive

Essentially what I'm hoping someone could tell me is if I can expect to run smoothly with a decent amount of mods running or if just a few mods in I'm going to hit a wall.

So far while watching tutorials I've installed the book cover overhaul and realistic water two and it seems to be running at the same speed and graphical output it did previous to the two mods.

Any help or opinions would be appreciated!

Would really need to know the specs for your video card ( GPU ), the GPU and the CPU are what is most important

Since you are new to modding you should read my guides, below

https://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/2235394-beginners-guide-to-modding/

https://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/5479302-beginners-guide-to-xedit-merged-patch-wrye-bashed-patch-used-together/

You're also going to need some additional mods / programs like - SKSE, Skyui, and the 3 linked in my beginners guide - LOOT, Wrye, and Tes5Edit

One other thing, are you playing Skyrim? OR Skyrim Special Edition, there IS a difference

you should be able to handle a decent amount of mods, just stay away from the 4k resolution stuff as the higher resolution textures will make your laptop run hotter, speaking of which, below

but only if you need it

Your CPU isn't all that great and the 980M is not equivalent to a desktop 980. Use 1K-2K textures and don't install and an insane amount of them. Windows 10 only allows 4GB of VRAM to be used in DX9 games anyways. Stay away from really heavy ENBs as well.
