Steam sucks -but who can blame Bethesda with all the rampant douchey pirates out there?

You can be a mature patient adult without being a fanatic.

youre forgetting that steam does dick all when it comes to stopping pirates, theres torrents all over the place, i wouldnt be surprized if most of the patches are cracked by now aswell. im sure beth had their reasons for using steam but it was definately not an attempt to stop piracy.

Maybe It can at least stop them from using the creation kit.

Apart from the fact that it was delayed for Steam integration which hardly anyone wants.

This what really annoys me.

They delayed it just for Steam. I think Beth doing so many deals with Steam is a terrible idea.

Also are people really suggesting that the CK being linked to steam will stop pirates? Doesn't anyone know that DRM fails terribly? It will just be cracked a released on a torrent site.

Everyone seems to love hating Steam but they forget to mention that it is also Bethesda fault.

It shouldn't have any DRM, and if it does I'll be royally pissed off. Unless it only requires authentication when uploading to Steamworks, it'll be a major pain in my ass while doing frak all to stop pirates.

Here's a simplified example for you. You are my 4 year old son. I promise you that we are going to go see a cartoon at the movies on Friday. I get called into work on an emergency. I tell you we will go on Saturday instead but you call me a liar and throw a fit and say I am horrible for not keeping my promise.

The sad thing is, you can expect that kind of behavior from a 4 year old who doesn't know any better.

No promises were made. They said they would release it and they are a little late.

And the price of bat guano in Argentina has gone up in recent years. And the stock market is down in Tokyo. And both of these are more relevant than your bizarre little analogy.

Bethesda is a business, not a teenager who knocked up his girlfriend. That business gave statements to the media promoting the game and the creation kit that was to be released with it. When they failed to deliver it, they gave more statements naming a new timeline, and then failed to deliver it again.

We're tired of being Charlie Brown to their Lucy. They keep promising this thing and then keep pulling the ball away. I'm sorry to hear you have low expectations but the rest of us expect a company to deliver the products it promotes.

@GMatthews: So promising your four year old that you were going to do something isn't a promise because you told them you can't keep your promise. That kid could probably use some counseling after learning that lesson.

So you've never made plans and had to break them for an emergency? The point its that I made a promise but I had to break it for a valid reason. Life is full of that and it is important to learn early on to roll with it. Some people never learned that lesson.

You go out to a restaurant. You order an entree but your favorite side dish doesn't arrive with the rest. You call the waiter and he promises it'll be there soon. You wait for an hour and call again. He apologizes, claims the restaurant's being swamped and says the dish will be there within a half hour. After a half hour, he comes back and says they need another 15 minutes.

I understand the frustration. I am frustrated at the delay as well. My issue is that people freak out and act like the world is ending and Bethesda is the devil. The delay is probably because of Steam -and that makes it worse... but regardless, deal with it instead of crying like your big toe got cut off. You can choose to piss and moan or you can choose to be an adult and accept that delays happen.

Promises were made, a long vague deadline was set and they failed to meet it because they were busy. They've now set another deadline. You don't have to be a four year old to be agitated by this kind of treatment.

Get agitated, Get frustrated. Don't act like a 4 year old.

They keep promising this thing and then keep pulling the ball away. I'm sorry to hear you have low expectations but the rest of us expect a company to deliver the products it promotes.

And they are going to. Life is not perfect, sometimes delays happen that can't be helped. They only released a deadline because some people freak out if they say "it will be out when it is ready". If they released it last month and had bugs, then people would have freaked out about that. They can't win.

And be careful using the phrase "the rest of us" -there are plenty of people who are waiting patiently instead of crying and throwing stuff at the wall like that Francis guy on YouTube that freaks out about stupid stuff.

Anyways, I'll stop. Trying to get people to stop venting on the internet is about as pointless as it gets.
