Is 3d modeling hard? Have huge Skyrim modeling ambitions?

I'm just wondering how hard it is to learn modeling with software like Blender.

I've made some simple stuff, like an unfinished model for a Nordic Cawood sword I was working on. I came to a halt at the pommel where I wanted to make a detailed dragon/lion sculpt.

Is it hard to do complex modeling?

I have huge ambitions, and if I had the skillset, there is so much content I would make for Skyrim and future Elder Scrolls games.

Problem I'm having is I'm very much less than a novice in my 3d modeling skills, have no idea how to make good textures, or even terrible ones. It's just a little overwhelming from this beginner point looking at the scope of everything I want to do with Skyrim.

At the current moment it takes me forever to tinker with my models, moving vertices and groups of them with very clumsy methods.

If you know how to do it right does the process speed up significantly? I'm just really amateur here.... Thanks!

I want to make complex super detailed weapons and armor sets complete with HDT physics and such, maybe even things like HDT vanilla inspired hairs and beards, that kind of thing. But I'm very much interested in creating extremely high quality with my mods that I want to create, if I can ever get to them.

The short answer is yes, 3D-Modeling is difficult. It can certainly be overwhelming when you've just started with it. I, like you, also have big ambitions but have little knowledge. All I can advice is that you stick with it and have patience. With bigger ambition comes increased difficulty. You could take a look here and ask for help if there is something you're struggling with. I'm sure there are several tutorial videos on Youtube as well. You could also take a look at Blender's own tutorial page.
