Allana
I've held off installing 1.4 (by disabling my internet prior to loading Steam and playing in offline mode) because of all the problems I'm seeing reported both here & at Bethsoft forums. However with the possibility of the CK coming out next week, I'd like to be able to get it, which means I'll have to let Steam connect to the internet. I'm wondering if I can backup my skyrim folder, and, if I have problems, simply copy it back & revert to offline mode. Will Steam let me play with 1.3 since I"m assuming it will know there's a newer version? & does anyone have any idea if I will I even be able to use the CK with 1.3, or if it will require 1.4? JDFan
I think to use the CK you are going to have to connect to steam (at least that seems to be the case) -- and in order to use Steam it is going to connect and update the game -- So chances are you are going to have to get 1.4 in order to use the CK !! iWillWander
I've rolled back with my character for the time being. I don't know how stable this is, but I'm using files that I backed up before hand. There's a lot of files to replace, but it is possible. Just be sure to keep Steam on offline mode so you don't accidentally update.

But, I guess I'll have to try to find out. Maybe I'll get lucky and not have the issues some are having ... but based on a google search I did this morning, the 1.4 problems are being widely reported. I'd rather do without the CK for a bit & give them a chance to fix the current crop of problems.
rabidNode
you can roll back. it is so disgusting that they still have not fixed the do not update option.and that you have to ask if you can play the game you bought and will steam let you play it.and to imagine that in order to tinker with the ck offline as in really offline on a secure pc we will have to tweak it and these are tools that are supposed to be freely shared so we can hack the game.everything about steam is a contradiction to modding
