  1. Darkeye, I understand and sympathize with your position, but I also am in complete agreement with vaul's and other's comments about the risks of running without an ad-blocker. I won't run without an ad blocker for the reasons he and others have stated. Until security issues with ads are solved, it's just not worth the risk. I also am not thrilled with what you're proposing for endorsements, as I think it will likely skew things, and make them much less useful to those of us trying to decide whether a mod is worth taking the time to D/L & try out. Since in many cases, uninstalling a mod from Skyrim can hose your game, trying out a new mod is far more work and time consuming. It usually requires loading a save from before the mod was installed and losing whatever progress you had made. This was not an issue for previous Bethesda games, but is for Skyrim. And I think that vaul's suggestion for using the percentage of endorsements to unique downloads as a second method of rating mods is excellent. A possible reason for folks not endorsing mods: I was under the impression that you could only endorse one mod per month. I believe that's how it worked when I first started using Nexus several years ago. The result was that if I had already endorsed a mod, and wanted to endorse a second mod, then I either had to un-endorse the first mod, or wait till the following month, and by then I'd often forget. I'm not sure when that changed, but it is clearly no longer the case, as I was able to endorse several of my favorite mods this morning after reading this article. Perhaps others are suffering from the same misunderstanding, which would at least partially explain the low levels of endorsements. It is much easier to remember to endorse a mod when you first get it and decide you like it. Having to wait makes it likely the endorsement won't get made. So, perhaps a notice to members about it?
  2. I've just started using the ENBSeries mod and would like to use the userconfig.ini file to make changes, but I can't get it to load. It's called out in the enbseries.ini file, it's in the same folder (skyrim), but it's as if it wasn't even there. If I make changes to the enbseries.ini file, I see the changes in-game. If I make them in the userconfig.ini file, nothing happens. Is there something else I have to do?
  3. Actually, I was looking in the wrong place. Inki pointed me in the right direction: the "Tamriel" worldspace record under 'World/World Spaces...' in the menu bar. I now have a plugin that modifies those the first three settings, and the fourth one is already covered in IcePenguin's "Clear Map Add-on" to his "A Quality World Map - With Roads". I need to test it more to make sure I'm not introducing any issues however.
  4. I finally let Steam install the 1.8 update, and noticed that some of my map tweaks are no longer working. I did a Google search and found the following over on the UESP forums (http://forums.uesp.n...hp?f=40&t=33840): "One thing I've noticed since Steam updated Skyrim from v1.7.7.0.6 to v1.8.151.0.6 is that the following four Map-related settings in the [MapMenu] section of Skyrim.ini no longer have ANY effect on the Map... fMapWorldInitialPitch: The initial pitch angle of the Map camera view each time you run Skyrim fMapWorldMaxHeight: Maximum height above Map for mouse wheel "zoom" fMapWorldMinHeight: Minimum height above Map for mouse wheel "zoom" sMapCloudNIF: NIF file path for the Map's animated cloud cover. Setting it to an empty (null) string removes the clouds so you can see the ground clearly. I've checked by using the console command SaveINI to save out ALL the game's internal INI-adjustable settings. Turns out the above four settings are conspicuously absent, which means they're now hard-coded internally and are NOT adjustable via INI settings any more." I tried loading the CK, and checked the game settings, and could not find anything resembling these. Does anyone have any idea how to go about overriding the Bethesda settings that now appear to be hard-coded? They are really limiting. And, I guess I'm wondering why on earth Bethesda has done this? I'm sure I'm not the only one that is really annoyed.
  5. Yes, I know how you feel. I was getting ready to call my ISP and complain about the slow connection until I saw all the posts. And it appears to have been most of the user base from all the comments I've seen in various forums. My guess is that it will take a while to calm down, because there's all this pent-up demand from folks who could not upload/download for over a week. Also, if the older services used by previous versions of NMM have been turned off, then it should get better fast. Otherwise, it may take a bit longer.
  6. You may want to look at the announcement on the front page. Seems there were some unexpected "side effects" with NMM. And, I always do manual downloads. You may want to consider that till this is fully resolved, as I'm still seeing issues on the site. But, at least manual downloads seem to be working much better.
  7. I can't say about today, but as of last night I was still having all the same problems, and couldn't even stay logged in for more than about 5 minutes ... Nexus would make me log in again. As far as downloads, size did not seem to make a difference, but the problems were less frequent, so perhaps they're making progress.
  8. The problems described above seem to be increasing in frequency, especially during more busy times. This is a Nexus issue, and very, very annoying. Is anyone doing anything at all about them? I've experienced all of them described in these posts, and I first noticed it after you switched over to your new software.Today has been especially bad with the white screen showing up instead of the "save file" dialog, on multiple mod pages. The "F5" workaround does work, but sometimes it takes a lot of button pushing. Edit: At the moment I"m also getting a "no files uploaded" message on the following mod: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/1175/ I know that's not the case, as I just looked at it a few minutes ago, and the files were there. And now, the message is: The connection was reset. The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading. I've had this several times this afternoon. So, perhaps a capacity/bandwidth problem with your servers & database software? Edit 2: Just saw your post, Dark0ne, sorry to hear he is ill. Waiting till Monday is certainly no problem, but please be aware this is something that's been going on for months. And, yes, thank you very much for the Nexus sites. Best mod site I've ever found.
  9. Thanks for the feedback! I haven't played in about 6 months, and there's been a lot of changes to the base game, but I really liked the Hideout, and want to keep using it.
  10. Anyone know if "Dovahkiin Hideout" is being maintained? It looks as if it hasn't been touched since March, and the comments section has been disabled since then. I've checked both Steamworks & Curse, and the file on SkyrimNexus appears to be the most recent. Does it work ok with the latest Skyrim version?
  11. FYI, the Skyrim executable is called: TES5.EXE.
  12. There are? I had somehow assumed the CK would be required for them. I'd better go searching ... Thanks!
  13. Well, I figured I'll be forced to get it, just hoping I can roll things back & still use CK. But, I guess I'll have to try to find out. Maybe I'll get lucky and not have the issues some are having ... but based on a google search I did this morning, the 1.4 problems are being widely reported. Thanks ... that gives me hope. I'd rather do without the CK for a bit & give them a chance to fix the current crop of problems.
  14. I've held off installing 1.4 (by disabling my internet prior to loading Steam and playing in offline mode) because of all the problems I'm seeing reported both here & at Bethsoft forums. However with the possibility of the CK coming out next week, I'd like to be able to get it, which means I'll have to let Steam connect to the internet. I'm wondering if I can backup my skyrim folder, and, if I have problems, simply copy it back & revert to offline mode. Will Steam let me play with 1.3 since I"m assuming it will know there's a newer version? & does anyone have any idea if I will I even be able to use the CK with 1.3, or if it will require 1.4?
  15. I would be very grateful if someone would fix Bethesda's buggy implementation for changing hot-key assignments (assuming they didn't fix it in 1.4 - I haven't installed it yet). For example, If I decide I want to change the <TAB> and <E> keys to do something other than the default, the inventory & other screens that use those hot-keys no longer work. It breaks the game. So you are forced to reset all the controls back to the defaults. That is worse than useless.
  16. Not that I'm aware of. I have an NVIDIA GeForce 8800-GTX graphics card, and I'm just using the latest vanilla driver from NVIDIA (latest as of last month when I had to reinstall everything due to a hard drive crash). I haven't set up any special profile for Skyrim. As far as SKSE, it appears to be running correctly ... I've entered the GetSkseVersion command in the console, and it returns the correct info. And SkyUI is running fine.
  17. Thank you. I went through the entire set of threads (including the later ones started when the post limit was reached), and tried everything there, and still no luck. I also tried installing the latest version (which is supposed to work with all Skyrim versions), in hopes that would help. The log below is with that version. I also noticed another log for Script Dragon in my skyrim folder last night, this one titled "asiloader.log", and it seems to show everything loading, even though it does not appear to do so in-game. The "asiloader.log" log from my last attempt is: I am curious as to why it's loading the "dinput8.dll" file from the "... \WINDOWS\system32\" folder instead of from "skyrim" folder. I checked the one in the "... \WINDOWS\system32\" folder, and it's a much older (2007), smaller (274K) file. It is listed as a Microsoft Corporation file with a version no. of "5.3.3790.1830", and an internal name of "DInput8.dll". The one that comes with Script Dragon has a date of 2012, the file size is 598K, the company is listed as Alexander Blade, the "internal name" is shown as "asiloader", and the version is 1.1.0.0. Since I don't know what else is using this file, I'm hesitant to overwrite the one in my ...Windows\System32 folder since I'm not sure what it's doing or what else is using it.
  18. Now that is interesting ... I am running Win XP 64 bit. I ran DXDIAG & it shows that I'm running DX9c and lists a bunch of d3d DLL's, but have no idea if I have the correct ones. I am currenlty downloading the latest runtime from the MS site & hope that fixes it, but JIC, do you know if the list of needed DLL's is documented anywhere? Or do you have a link to the download location on the script dragon site? I'm not finding it. Update: Ok, installed the latest DirectX 9c, and it did not help. Thanks for the suggestion though.
  19. Ok, I tried the following, hoping to track down the problem: 1. Moved all the Script Dragon plugin files into my .../skyrim folder. Reloaded, used the hot-key to try to spawn a horse (horsespawner test file included with Script Dragon). Nothing happened. 2. Uninstalled SKSE & associated plugins, repeated test. Still doesn't work. 3. Unchecked all mod esp's & esm's (not the base Skyrim ones though). Still doesn't work. In all cases I tested with a very early save which had only a couple of esp's associated with it to avoid problems. Have no idea why it's not working for me. I never got any messages during load of either Skryim or savegame saying anything is loading. At this point I have no idea what else to do.
  20. I was aware of the version issues with both SKSE & Script Dragon ... I just hadn't realized I didn't have the up-to-date version of Script Dragon when I initially installed it. I usually check prior to installing anything, but i must have missed it with Script Dragon. I've set Steam to not automatically update, though I don't know if that will stick. Because of that, I have put Steam into offline mode, and am disabling the internet connection prior to loading it to try to insure it does not. I want to be sure everything I use is updated before letting 1.4 install. I'm going to run some tests in a bit to see if I can figure out what is interfering with the Script Dragon plugins working.
  21. I do have a more recent version (which matches the version of Skryim I'm running, 1.3.10.0), and no, actually, I don't get any messages that anything is loading, and I never have. The only way I know that SkyBoost is running is by comparing FPS rates with & without it. I have tried putting everything in the skyrim directory (which is where the TES5.exe & launcher are), but that did not help. Only once did I get any messages, and that was when I didn't realize that the version of Script Dragon I had downloaded was v1.2.12.0, and tried to install a plugin that had been updated to 1.3.10.0 to match the latest version of Skyrim. I didn't get any message when running SkyBoost. as the only asi plugin. When I installed the "Scale Quest Rewards" plugin I got a big white window stating that the version of Script Dragon I had did not support any version later than v1.2.12.0, then it promptly dumped me back to the desktop. I assume it was referring to the version of the "Scale Quest Rewards Plugin", since I had never seen that message before. When I updated to Script Dragon v1.3.10.0, that went away, but I still have not been able to get anything else to run. I will try again tomorrow to put everything in the skyrim folder, but I've already tried that a couple of times without any success.
  22. Actually, I tried both, and it did not help. There are other (newer?) instructions that say you can put them in a "skyrim/asi" folder to keep things neat, though the scriptdragon.dll & dinput8.dll files need to go into the "/skyrim" folder directly. And, if you look at the scriptdragon.log file I copied above, it is finding the other plugins (it finds them in either folder, btw). And I had to replace the dinput8.dll file that came with skyboost with the latest one when skyrim went to 1.3.10.0, since SkyBoost was released before that came out.
  23. I have been trying to get several Script Dragon mods to work, and so far only SkyBoost is working, even though it does not show up in the ScriptDragon log. I'm sure it is working because I've run FPS tests with & without it & get 5-6 FPS improvement with it installed. I am also running SKSE and several mods. Skyrim (legal, purchased version), SKSE & Script Dragon are all the latest version. The mods that do show up in the Script Dragon log and which are not working are: -horsespawner (for testing; tried changing hotkey, still didn't work) -savehotkey.asi` -scaleQuestRewards.asi` (tried changing hotkey, still didn't work) I have installed Script Dragon in my ".../Steam/SteamApps/common/skyrim" folder. The .asi files & their associated .ini files are in my ".../Steam/SteamApps/common/skyrim/asi" folder. Any suggestions? I've included my Script Dragon log & mod listing below. My Script Dragon Log is: The SKSE mods I"m running are: The other mods I'm running are:
  24. Yes ... it's in the Paradox version of RH. They are working on a fix. I did re-install it, but used the original version, and it works fine. Thank you.
  25. never mind ... something got corrupted ... I have reinstalled & it works.
