yuckluck
Greetings Nexus Community, I have a lot of experience doing modeling in SolidWorks and I have a library of models sitting on my computer including guns, missiles, rockets, aircraft etc. that I want to turn into mods.Is it possible to convert CAD files into models that could be used as assets in FO4 mods? Any information is useful as this would be my first approach to creating a mod ever. Best Regardsyuckluck
BlahBlahDEEBlahBlah
Im not sure if I remember correctly, as it's a couple months since I worked with AutoCAD, but it's surely just a hop-skip-jump to get CAD files into 3DSmax, correct? There was a converter by Autodesk..."Real" or "True" something? Or was that from/to Revit? Maybe that was just the viewer...Mer! Darn memory. Then anything in 3DSmax can come here (with a few hoops like the export plugin). Collision is a bit more, though, and can only come from 3DSmax 2013.
DeathMotif
The short answer is "Yes, it is possible." However, from what I've researched, it is far from easy. It also depends on what format you are using to convert from. If you are using .DWG, Blender has supported importing the format, but you may have to try several different versions until you find one that works. From there, you can convert to other formats. For SolidWorks, I found this. https://en.m.wikibooks.org/wiki/Blender_3D:_Noob_to_Pro/Import_and_Render_a_SolidWorks_Model
