Bad performance. Any hints?

So, I have recently reinstalled Fallout 4.

 

Back when it first came out I remeber being able to play it on mostly high settings, excluding god rays, and maintaining about 40 fps at all times.

 

However, now after reinstalling it, I sometimes struggle to maintain even 20 fps (Lexington, downtown Boston), which is weird, considering that I have upgraded my GPU to a 1070 from a 960.

 

My rig:

 

i7-3930k

16 GB RAM

1070 GTX

SSD Hard drive

Windows 10

 

I tried the usual ini fixes, have installed the texture optimazation project and shadow boost, to almost no avail.

 

The only thing that changed apart from the GPU and the harddrive (had a HDD previously) is that I updated my BIOS. However, games like Witcher 3 and Mass Effect Andromeda a running perfectly well, so I don't really think that I fumbled there.

 

So, long story short: Does anyone have any hints as to what the problem is, exactly? I read through quite a few threads but have not found anything yet.

no, I did not.

 

I thought that if I wanted better textures I'd find them on the Nexus. However, so far I have only installed texturepacks that are meant to lighten the load.

Are you using Scrap Everything? Or in general, post your mod list.

As you can see, most of the texture replacers I use should not be a problem.
