Naming Conventions

Well, allow me to simply jump to the question.

How do you name items that you have created? (Potions, poisons, spells, enchanted items)

Not how as in "what buttons do you press".

What kind of names do you give them? Do you stick with the 'Damage Fatigue' for your poisons, or do you spice it up a bit?

While you're at it, throw me some examples.

Examples:

A 'Damage Health' poison that also includes fire damage could easily be "Firebite Acid".

Yup.

Well, I'm not really into alchemy so I stick to the default name.

As for weapons and spells, I prefer to have something matching with their attribute.

Fire for fire, ice for ice of course.

I wouldn't want to name my fire katana as Frost Grim for naming sake :P

My favorite weapon so far is a daedric long sword with fire + ice + lighting damage and I named it Soul Reaver

Typically I tend to stick to form names which explain what the thing does, or explain what it's tied to. It's also a good practice to add a very specific prefix to form names like in your case, IPTDamageFatigue, or IPTFirebiteacid. That way the chances of having a form conflict are much smaller, and you can locate your own forms alot faster in the case of several custom forms. For instance, with books, having them all start with the same combination of letters will cause them all to be listed near eachother within the books category. Making this standard practice can also allow you to notice if you made any alterations to standard forms by accident, or make it easier for anyone else looking at your mod to see what you did when problems occur.

As for the names which are shown, that's more of a case by case thing, depending largely on if the player will ever see it, and in what context they might see it.

Well i Used a runeskull on the Atlantean sword and renamed it sliepnir because it had a few attributes and i felt it was appropriete to give it a strong name.

(Sliepnir was Odins eight legged horse.) I also enchanted a samurai sword with lighting and named it thunderstike. Then i enchanted some armor with strength and named it Palaidins Might. As for potions i just use the default if i only make a few and just pick a random name like Bugjuice or Toxicbrime if i make a bunch of them.

I also Enchanted with runeskulls all of conans armor you can buy from red sonja and renamed it various things like Leather circlet of Crom or Shield of crom or Bracers of crom.

Naming stuff is only limited by your imagination.

I'm afraid my insanity ensures everything has some crazy - though relevant - name like boots with extra strength as 'boots of kick ass' or a helmet of fire protection would be 'cool head'. It's because I think you have to make fun of life or it's all such a chore. But fortunately not too many people have the same outlook.

It really depends on what I'm making. I also don't do a whole lot with alchemy, but everything I make I like to give it a name relative to what attributes the item has. Eg, I was messing around with spells in the CS and created a damage health 9999999 with a radius of like 5000 and I called it "Tactical Nuclear Strike" :) Then again, I made a really powerful damage health sword + soul trap and I called it Soul Drinker (I think something in vanilla Ob has that name too, not sure though). Another of similar damage without the soul trap and I named it Wrath of Akatosh. So it really depends on what it is and what it does, but I do tend to take my naming a bit too seriously sometimes. ;)

I usually make a fire damage enchanted sword for my chars named Firestarter :)

anyway I just like to give em 1-word-names not "super sword of the damned" or sort.. just "soulstealer", "firestarter" like that :D

and just making something epic up is cool too.. .like.. eh.. dagatazzar (cool eh?)
