phagar
I need to talk to a member that speaks Russian and I tried to use Google Translate but when I pasted it to a message reply it would not print the letters correctly as it isn't set to accept Russian.Could someone please tell me how I can paste the translation to a message and have it come out right ? Thank you Respectfully,Pat Hagar
montky
howdy phagar! I know what you mean - a lot of NMM users have english as a secondary language, and not being able to speak to them in the language they can best understand one another is regrettable.I have some tentative ideas for you to explore after the link, though I've refrained from sharing a couple of the code snippets you'd need to look into for real-time transliteration or to override the character sets. I recommend the Googler transliteration thread, and ThisWeekInTech's BBCode translit RSS feed. a lot of interoperability depends on the device you're viewing stuff, and whether or not the language you intend to communicate in,has their own rtf or tff font sets etc... it is possible to append the text-box to read other sets temporarily;you'd spoiler-box it and have that be in the mutual set which loads the characters, digraphs and diacritics properly, so you can speak it properly with one another. Indeed, there is a limited character set.you can Ctl+C the unicode version of it from your translate, and do it that way.the unicode variant will appear even here on NMM or proboards or elsewhere, no problem.there are .ru websites that offer transliteration options too,so, you could ctl+c from russian transliteration options, and that embedding code will work too. alternately, take a screenshot of your message in the original, and link that to your friend.this is tried and tested hehe. be sure to crop the translit. text only hehe. you can send Private Message Images, and(spoiler) |place message link here| (./spoiler)the message link can be to say, snapchat, or a livelink to say, surveymonkey etc...which means that, after a certain time interval, your image will expire, and they only need to see it for a particular interval etc. alternately alternately...you could use a separate messaging system, such as Hangouts etc,to talk to them in that, in real-time. I hope I've given you some ideas as workarounds, and hopefully you'll be up and communicating again and modding in no time at all! phagar
Thanks for the help and ideas. I am not as computer literate as most so it will take me awhile to work out the details but I think I can do it. Respectfully,Pat Hagar
