Install DLC textures manually or with NMM

Sorry if this has been covered already. This is obvious to some, but others may find it useful.

So you want to use the new HD DLC textures without overwriting your custom textures? To me, this is "filling in the cracks". I use a large tex mod like Skyrim HD as a base and add the smaller specific mods I like best on top.

1. First you need a bsa browser, like this one: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=1395

you also need a file manager like 7zip. Unzip BSA Browser to a new folder on your desktop.

2. Run the BSA exe in the new folder. Go to File>Open> then navigate to your skyrim data folder. Find the HighResTexture pack 1 and double click it.

3. You will see the file names listed. Create a new folder on your desktop and rename it the name of the bsa file or something so you know what it is. Go to Action>Extract to> and select the empty folder you just created on your desktop. The files will extract to the new folder. Repeat steps 2 and 3 for HighResTexture pack 2.

4. If you want to add the textures manually without Nexus Mod Manager, just place the ones you want in the appropriate Skyrim/Data/textures folder. If you want to use the Mod Manager, read on.

4. You will need 7zip to create an archive. Open 7zip File Manager and navigate to your desktop. Highlight the HighRes texture folder you created and click the green arrow, "add", and click "OK" in the new window. The archive will be created on your desktop. Do the same for the 2nd texture pack.

5. You now have 2 archives to use and you can pick and chose with texture to use. I personally just added the texures and chose to not overwrite anything, thus preserving Skyrim HD, Flora overhaul, etc.
