  1. Hey folks, Maybe everyone already knows this, but if you don't, this may help. I was having huge FPS drops in Radiant Raiment, downstairs of Jorrvaskr, Understone Keep, and a few others. I found out it was a single chandelier mesh in SMIM. just rename meshes\clutter\imperial\impchandelliercandle01.nif and try it out. The game should load the vanilla mesh instead.
  2. Did anyone else shake their heads when they saw farmers growing crops at the farms near Windhelm? Has anyone ever seen Inuit harrowing frozen tundra to plant carrots? Has anyone ever noticed that the only hunters to be found outside of the holds are stuck in the middle of nowhere, where they could rarely if ever see a customer? In areas where you cannot farm, you must hunt, fish or gather. My idea takes care of both things. Turn the farms in snow covered areas into hunting lodges or hunter/bow/general goods shops or "gatherer shops". Gatherer shops would sell wild harvested foods and ingredients. Lodges would give a warm place to sleep for those hunters stuck camping all of the time, and give them a place to sell their game. Hunter/bow shops would supply the hunters and everyone else with the tools to hunt Hunters/gatherers could (maybe?) be scripted to bring their quarry to the lodge/shop every few days.
  3. Anyone else notice that the food in skyrim is way too oversized? The scale is just off. Also considering that it is a tundra climate, food should be smaller and stunted compared to foods grown in warmer climates. Potatoes grown in gardens in Alaska, for instance, are usually only the size of golf balls.
  4. This would be awesome. I seem to remember that fallout had a detection system where you knew your hidden status even when walking upright. There should be no difference wether you are sneaking or standing up right
  5. Oh MAN... I had freezing and CTDs in and around Karthwasten today...do a search for Karthwasten freeze and the first result I get is my own post from 18 months ago. Obviously I have a new game, new install, mostly different mods....so it must be something in the game engine. I'd love to hear if anyone still has problems here. I'm using enb 227 with enb boost, and I get 50+ fps and smooth play everywhere else but for Karthwasten and the area between Riverwood and the Guardian Stones. And I have ALWAYS had issues there when using mods.
  6. 4 months later, this issue has resurfaced to the top of my bug fixing list. After researching on the web more, I'm not sure it is ini or mod related. It seems to be an inherent bug which is made more obvious by overcast weather. The sahadow area moves as you zoom the camera in third person view. It is almost as if the carmera is casting it's own shadow. In Solstheim this problem is even more noticeable due to the constant presence of ash in the sky. If there is someone who never had this issue (go check in overcast weather) I would love to see their ini settings
  7. The best luck I had with Adaptive AA is what I reported above....extracting the meshes for the invisible things like candles into the data folder made them visible, although slightly transparent. However, using the new .200 ENB tweaked to my system increases performance as it allows Skyrim to use more RAM than 3.1 GB. Thusly I am now able to use SSAA X4 and my FPS never drops below 32. It usually runs 44-48 FPS in the wilderness.
  8. I'm not making a request, rather asking if anyone knows of a way to replace the chunky looking heavy snow on pine trees in Dragonborn. Can't seem to find much for texture/model replacers for Dragonborn.
  9. Pardon the long winded post, but I've spent a lot of time tweaking and I have much to share and ask about. I got some textures to show up that were made invisible by adaptive AA. I just started a new game. I have been using enb .199 with mixed results. I do not really see much increase in performance, however it does seem more stable on my HD 7950 using a great many HD texture mods and almost 200 plugins. My textures folder is almost 14 GB. So I'm setting out to squeeze as much FPS as possible. First off I HATE aliasing. It is my number one pet peeve. The conundrum- enb works best with no hardware AA, but the FXAA/SMAA/ENB-based AA/solutions have little effect, especially on foliage or reflective light. But I can live without the top shelf ENB effects. The game's built in FXAA is ok but I use it as a secondary and mostly to soften the look of the game. Multisampling AA is poor unless set to at least 8X. But even then foliage still flickers. For me that equals about 28-40 FPS on average Adaptive AA is great, but you get transparent/invisible textures. Needs to be at least 4X and my FPS is 40-52 outdoors depending on whats around. I notice NPCs really hurt my FPS Supersampling 4X is the look I want, but it cuts my FPS down to 22-32. I went back to adaptive AA and experiemented. For me the first issue I noticed was invisible candles. So I extracted those meshes from the Skyrim-meshes.bsa to my data folder. Now they appear only slightly transparent. Definitely can live with that. Still testing things......does anyone have any any ATI-related AA input? Whether to override/enhance, or types used? i5-2500k 4.0Ghz 8 GB RAM 2133Mhz HIS HD7950 1000core/1450shader
  10. I believe I may have figured out a quick fix...it's just a matter of saving and then loading that save without exiting the game. The glitch probably occurs when you add a new mod or make adjustments to lighting with ENB, etc.
  11. I have installed the new 13.4 ATI driver for my 7950, no change however. Still looking.
  12. Does anyone know what causes this? Guards' torch light only illuminated the rocky parts of the road, while my torch lights things fine. I am using The Wilds ENB, Sweet FX, Enhanced Lights & FX, Cinematic Fire but have verified these are not the cause. Same issue here
  13. The Steam-style format search results do not show the whole title, making finding the file I want and not the 20 translation files harder. The old format was simpler and showed the whole title and the few details you need when searching.

    Font Bug

I know this is an old OP but I have the same issue with words of power. Using SkyUI 3 and Farkaas for SkyUI 3
  15. Thanks for the suggestion, but seems to have no effect. I've tried many settings between .1 to 1 for fShadowBiasScale but it changes nothing. I'm currently using The Wilds ENB without CoT, my shadow related setting are iBlurDeferredShadowMask=6 fInteriorShadowDistance=3000.0000 fShadowDistance=5000.0000 iShadowMapResolutionSecondary=2048 iShadowMapResolutionPrimary=2048 iShadowSplitCount=2 fShadowLODStartFade=1000.0000 iShadowMode=3 bTreesReceiveShadows=1 bDrawLandShadows=1 bShadowMaskZPrepass=0 iShadowMapResolution=2048 fShadowBiasScale=0.2500 iShadowMaskQuarter=4 iShadowFilter=3
  16. I know this has been mentioned before, I have seen maybe 6 posts about it but never any solution. The problem I speak of is the circular area around the player that occurs during snow, rain, or cloudy weather, I seem to see it most along the northern coast: All around me is a dark area. Am I a collapsed white dwarf? A singularity? Can light not escape my gravitational forces? I get this modded and unmodded. With ENB and without.....is it even fixable? And if it can be fixed, how? Thanks for any help.
  17. I'm posting two graphs showing the need for some kind of fix to how the game handles memory. In this, I load a save inside a fully furnished Lakeview Manor. I exit, walk around, re-enter, and save and exit the game. In this, I do the same as above, except I use PCB before saving. (at about 77 samples) You can see how this frees up over 1GB of VRAM. Is everyone experiencing this? PS- I also use bSelectivePurgeUnusedOnFastTravel=0 and bPreemptivelyUnloadCells=1 in my .ini because of this problem, but seemingly with no effect.
  18. If you altered your papyrus settings in skyrim.ini it can cause those errors
  19. OK, I wonder if my GPU could be faulty? Or is this a problem with the game? Or do I need to let go of some textures? :yucky: I load a save inside Candlehearth Hall. VRAM usage is around 1400 MB. I exit and stroll around Windhelm for a minute. VRAM goes to around 2100 MB I go back inside Candlehearth. VRAM hits 2850. I use PCB and it goes down to 2200 MB and 2000 MB a second after that. I do have PCB as a hotkey on my controller, however should I really have to do this every three minutes? It just seems like the RAM should not build up like that...I also have bSelectivePurgeUnusedOnFastTravel=0 in skyrimprefs.ini and bPreemptivelyUnloadCells=1 in my skyrim.ini If anyone has advice.... Is it my hardware, the game, my 10.5 GB texture folder, or all of the above?
  20. SO I thought my woes were over but After I get in Windhelm the interior CTDs started in again. My VRAM usage peaks at around 3.020 GB, which is causing CTDs on my 3.072 GB card. Interiors seem to use more VRAM I am using the Texture Pack Combiner Light. I resized all textures over 2048x using but still my VRAM jumps 350 MB when entering Candlehearth Hall, for example. Most of the textures I resized were NPC skin textures so I thought it would stop the CTDs. I see many others have the ~3GB CTD issue.... it still boggles me as to how my old 1GB card could hand the TPC normal version without crashing.
  21. Hey there, Thanks for your help....I have been playing a while with no CTDs.... I used the fast travel purge setting, I also reduced the cell buffer size in the skyrim.ini from 36 to 24. This plus PCB-ing every now and then has helped.
  22. I'd like to chime in, because I have always had shadow problems too, even on a HD7950. I'm using Project ENB for COT. Even with the shadow fix I get vibrating or flickering shadows when I move around. It is not the sun related flicker. It is especially noticable on fences like the new SMIM fences. I have tried a bazillion ini tweaks, the vanilla settings, with AO, without AO, with no mods, different settings for the ENB shadows, nothing stops the flickering when I'm moving. And my issue is only in exteriors. Interiors seem fine.
  23. I've always had them in the archive list. I'm trying out ATTK, and also PCB every so often from a hotkey. Yes but you have the ESP active on your mod list. You don't need to use the esp if your loading the BSA in the INI. That might actually be causing crashes since it trying to double load the same thing... The BSA and then the ESP. You also might want to try Bethesda Hi-Res DLC Optimized (http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/9080) and just skip using the BSA/ESP for the texture pack. As a side note, I'm using a GTX 680 4gb card and even with a good number of 2048 retex mods I rarely spike over 3gbs of Vram. Hi OK, I see what you are saying...funny thing is that I only recently activated the dlc .esp's because I was getting crashes with them deactivated...I heard something about them causing CTD's so it was an experiment. Using attk light, and pcb via hotkey, I haven't had any crashes.....maybe I should run a test on my RAM? I have no BSOD in my OS however..... Also after doing this I noticed my vram mostly stays between 2100 and 2600 MB I noticed that the Bethesda Hi-Res DLC Optimized file size is much smaller that the Official DLC so I figured it acted as a patch only, so I used both. So...if I add a bsa to my archive list, files in the Data file override it....but it also loads without the esp activated? Thanks for the help.
