Xenobuzz
Greetings! VERY late to the Fallout 4 party, but now that I have a new blazing fast PC that defaults to Ultra High in-game resolution, I'm ready to start modding the bejeesus out of this game.I think I had a page and a half list of mods for Fallout 3, and the wealth of available mods is what made possible so many additional play-throughs of that game.I have been on these forums for at least a year or more, so I don't know how much has changed.I never played New Vegas because I also did not have a machine that could run it. That might change, but I really only have time for one game, really.Anyway, I've only been playing FO4 for about three weeks. I've rescued and joined the Minutemen, and am roaming around the general vicinity.I'm still getting used to the enhanced branching in the game menus, but I do appreciate that they're similar enough for me to figure out most everything. The reason for this post: I want to get started modding ASAP.In particular, I want the mod that allows you to carry an unlimited supply of items. I really don't want to play without it, as I despise backtracking, and this game makes it pretty clear that MANY more items in the game are useful for crafting and not just caps. So, I am asking for your help with three things:1. A link to a page on this site describing the basics for a newbie in adding mods to FO4 on Steam.2. A link to the mod that will remove/negate the weight limit. 3. Links to your favorite mods according to the tags listed above. I LOVER Mart's Mutant Mod for FO3, as it really made the landscape feel more populated and alive. Also very interested in:Additional locationsAdditional ItemsAdditional textures for existing itemsAdditional creaturesAdditional weatherAdditional sky textures (there was one in FO3 that added a giant planet with rings like Saturn. I LOVED that one! Thanks very much!
Ethreon
There are no F4 mods on steam.
Xenobuzz
There are no F4 mods on steam. Actually, there are. Unfortunately, not the wide variety available to those who installed the game from a store bought disc as opposed to through the Steam network. I've attached a picture of the in-game menu. It also seems that it may be possible to use Nexus mods with the Steam version despite not having all local game files. I am researching this now.http://i.imgur.com/u6JwO00.jpg
Ethreon
That isn't steam workshop, that's Bethesda.net and it's a totally different thing.
Greslin
If you're familiar with installing mods on FO3 and you can find the Data directory, you should feel pretty much at home. The fundamentals haven't really changed at all, with the exception of scripts. That's new. But it's still basically a tree branching off of /Data, with loose files acting as replacements for base files in the BA2 (the FO4 equivalent of BSA) archives. I'd recommend NMM as a mod manager, mainly because that's IMO currently the closest there is right now to an FOMM equivalent. Then just start installing directly from Nexus and sorting out conflicts in FO4Edit. Being thoroughly familiar with the system under FO3 and FNV, it took me all of about an hour to get fully caught up with the FO4 model. And re: Steam, that's only really an issue of where the Data directory is located. Edited April 24, 2017 by Greslin
