New Vegas to Fallout 3 model porting help.

Greetings, I have chosen to spice up my Fallout 3 mods by adding an armor from Fallout New Vegas (Namely, the Remnant Power Armor set.) However, I have a problem with the armor's arm covering up the pip-boy in first and third person views. Here are some pictures to demonstrate:

Picture in link to prevent potential stretching.

Same as above.

All I did was change the armor's texture paths, I figured they should both use the same pip-boy model stuff. Was I wrong?

Open it in nifscope and make sure the strings are named PipBoyOn/PipBoyOff for the sections that need to change for the pipboy.

Right click>edit string and change it like shown in the picture

edit: also nucacola, he would not be able to release anything more then an esp since you cannot distribute the files legally.

Guess you need to tweak the armor mesh (the nif file) regarding for naming the left arm correctly, where there is a pipboyoff and pipboyon, forgot how it work though (when i still love using vanilla pipboy back then) if you know how to use nifskope just try to open vanilla power armor to give you better information..

my best suggestion, use AlexScorpion Pipboy Readius for replacing Pipboy.

@NucaCola As micalov has already said, I cannot release the files sir. You'll have to do this mod yourself, sorry!

@micalov Those strings are already named as such sir. Anything else I could check on the left arm that might work?

@ebony_ivory Suggestion duly noted. Thank you sir.

EDIT: Fixed it, Fallout 3 has pipboyon/off, New Vegas instead used pipboyon:0/pipboyoff:0. Just had to get rid of the :0s. All of the joints also had :0s, I wonder if it'd do the armor any harm if I got rid of all of them or would it be more trouble than it's worth?

Good job fixing it. But I don't understand why you can't distribute it like any other armor mod out there. I saw that someone transfered the NCR veteran ranger gear in F3 so why not the APA?

The uploading of copyright material is explained in the Terms of Service, which can be accessed at the top of this page.

That doesn't answer my question at all. Whats the diffrence between uploading one set of armor from NV for F3 thats legal and another set thats illegal?

What makes it illegal? What keeps the other set that legal from NOT being illegal?

The mod with the NCR armor does not contain the meshes or the textures for the NCR armor. Hence, it has none of the assets from Fallout NV, meaning it is not providing copyrighted material. All it is providing is an .esp that adds the armor to the list of armors in the game and connects it to the meshes and textures if you have them- if you don't have Fallout NV, then you don't have access to the meshes or the textures, meaning if you use that .esp, all you get is a big red square with an exclamation mark on it.

Hence, since it is not providing any copyrighted assets, the mod is not doing anything illegal.

If you take meshes or textures out of the Fallout NV installation folder and upload them to this site or ANYWHERE ON THE INTERNET for public distribution then that is copyright infringement, and illegal. If you see a mod that you suspect is doing this, then you should report it. However, before you jump to report something like that, do yourself and the mod author a favor- take a quick look at the size of the download. If it's 1kb in size, then it's impossible that it has any meshes or textures included. You will noticed that the size of the NCR armor download is 1kb.
