pawss67
Hey there, Just as the title says, no matter what I do F4SE always causes fallout 4 to stop working with the simple "Fallout 4 is not working, windows is looking for a solution" window. I have tried EVERYTHING: Renaming F4SE to Fallout4Launcher.exe, I have tried completely deleting all F4SE files and reinstalling, reinstalling FO4, turning off all of my mods, turning off my anti-virus, adding fallout 4 to the exclusions, updating all mods/files including f4se after deleting all previous F4se related files, restarting my PC..... Everything. I love Fo4 and modding the game, in fact, I have over 1000 hours in Fallout 4, it's my go-to game. But this is making me really annoyed, and has from the beginning of the f4se. It seems to be an issue only I have encountered, as there is no logical reason I can find that would make this happen. To make it weirder, every time I try to run f4se from the NMM, apparently f4se was not installed. I figured it was a file-path issue or an install issue however even when using the direct filepath and after re-installing f4se after deleting all the files as mentioned above, it still happens. No idea what the hell is going on... The fact that I'm a hardware guy and have no idea what to do with software doesn't help. Moksha8088
I think you need to initialize the game with the regular start up at least once, then run F4SE.

pawss67
It is the latest version, downloaded it today to give F4SE a try again. I have always used the normal initialization, and after trying that again it still doesn't work. windows 8, 7, vista compatability as well as administrator stuff do not work either. Greslin
I've been using Extender since the FO3 days, and have never had a problem. 1. Make double-super-sure that your Fallout build is at the latest version, and that you're using the latest version of F4SE. If there is any discrepancy at all between them, it won't work. Seriously. Double triple super check. 2. Don't rename anything. Just unroll the SE package into your Fallout directory (as the others said, *NOT* in Data). 3. When you install F4SE, make sure that everything actually got written. You may have a UAC issue if your Steam directory is in the customary "Program Files" location. Mine is installed in C:\Games, and I've never had a permission problem. 4. When you launch your game, run "f4se_loader.exe". If you did all of the above correctly, that should fire up F4SE, which in turn will fire up your Fallout 4 game. If you don't have a problem with your machine or OS, and your game itself isn't FUBARed in some way, and it STILL doesn't work, you probably have a version mismatch or a file permissions problem.
