(User-name here) banned.

Uploading copyrighted illegal content

So what if he did? This is a MODDING site! Nobody is making money off the mods here! Just what are you guys thinking? Robyn you should fire the moderators doing this or soon you won't have any mods on this site left. A re-texture of a sword is considered "Illegal", A sound pack is considered "Illegal" then EVERYTHING is illegal!

So if i make a model with SKYRIM textures it means im violating copyright and that i should be banned because Skyrim textures belong to bethesda?

Seriously...

Nexus Mods can be held accountable in many cases for what a user uploads; they don't want to be the target of lawsuits. If time and money grew on trees, sure, every site under the sun could afford to litigate, but sadly, neither have been fruitful for many places. Look at the Megaupload case, for instance.

SOPA and PIPA failed, ACTA about to fail too. Don't go off-topic please... this is about modders getting banned for simply... creating content...

You can create all the content you want. You just can't post Bethesda's assets up for FREE download. Be quiet, please.

What if everyone made a mod that gave away vanilla assets for download? It's time to lock this idiotic post.

Every mod here can be looked as an "Asset" of bethesda, even to extent that it's using a COPYRIGHTED file extension by bethesda or a bit of their code. Also, keep insults to the minimum.

The point is, if you start posting vanilla assets in large numbers it becomes possible with the CK to recreate all or part of Skyrim easily. Bethesda doesn't want that, for good reason. Just don't post assets from vanilla Skyrim. It's not even necessary in order to make something use a vanilla texture. Just set the texture to be pulled from the directory where it should already rest in any legitimate copy of the game. Problem solved. Edited by Rennn

This thread was started with an assertion without any evidence to back it up. What was the file that got banned and for what illegal content? Important details to include if you're going to start ranting and throwing accusations around.
