HylianSteel
Google has failed me for the most part on finding info about compressing archives. Are there any situations where you shouldn't compress an archive with Archive.exe? Edited April 30, 2017 by GuerillaTech
Tarshana
If you are modifying textures or meshes that need to overwrite base textures or anything base game related. Otherwise you should always pack the files (it makes less of a mess for the mod user).
HylianSteel
I don't think I worded my question correctly. This is what i'm talking about. Normally, that option is deselected. are there any cases where I shouldn't select it when packing files into an archive?
cdcooley
The game's own BSAs only use compression for the special texture archives. And I think that's part of the reason that the CK will build your BSA in two parts with one specifically to hold the textures. Voice and sound files are known to cause problems in compressed archives on anything except high-end PCs. So using an uncompressed archive is generally the best option on modern PCs if you're doing an all-in-one manual archive.
