DarkWolf7
Okay, so I downloaded the creation kit, Finally. I downloaded it, and then when I tried to open the darn thing it wouldn't open. I've tried restarting my computer, reinstalling it, restarting steam, everything I can think. Whenever I click "Play" it opens the box and says "Preparing to launch Creation Kit" and then it will just close and not do anything after that. It didn't say anything about any problems it may have encountered during d/l, it doesn't say theres anything wrong with it now. Can someone please help me. I'M GONNA GO CRAZY IF I CAN'T USE THE FREAKIN' CREATION KIT!!!!! EDIT: so I checked In my skyrim folder in Program Files (x86) > Steam > Steamapps > Common > Skyrim and there is an icon for the Creation Kit there and when I tried to open it I got this: The program can't start because steam_api.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem.Where can I find this Steam_api.dll?Should I try reinstalling it again? nesket
I have exactly the same issue and no one else seems to have this? I am so desperate and i want to mod so bad! If anyone finds a solution please reply! Okay i have some news: Ever since the CK patch i haven't been able to start Skyrim either? It just says "This game is currently unavailible" Could this have something to do with it? Edited February 12, 2012 by nesket
KottonKing
I have been using the CK just fine until now... last night i saved and backed up all my important files, applications and folders that I didn't want to lose and reset my comp to manufacturer settings and reinstalled my stuff including steam and the CK and now it's doing the same thing... It says preparing to launch the creation kit and then does nothing. Ive never had this issue before...
FastBlackCat
KottonKing and Nesket, go into your Steam Apps Skyrim folder and check it. This happened to me, too, and when I checked the main folder, half the program apps had disappeared (up to and including the exe file) and all my mod files. Fortunately, I had made a back up of my Skyrim game, so I just replaced the folders and reinstalled the mods and the game runs fine. However, as far as the Creation Kit, it now opens but crashes to desktop the minute it does. Still trying to figure that one out.
Furrywolf
My creation kit says it's initializing system soemthing and then nothing! THe whole application freezes in that stage, eat 25% CPU power and 8GB of RAM and stays like that for ever!? I dunno what to do I've tried reinstalling Skyrim, steam and CK!? mstagg
I had this problem as well. Turns out you need to install the Creation Kit on the same drive as Skyrim.
FiftyTifty
For the steam_api.dll issue, try copying over the same file from a free steam game. Worked for me a while ago, though I can't remember the name. If need be, I could upload one.
