Save game corruption, hunting for the source

Hello. I'm hoping someone can help me narrow down the list as to whom the culprit could be to my (seemingly random) game save corruptions. It seems to be tied to the opening of living NPC inventories (pickpocket, merchant, etc). To be honest, even that is a shot in the dark.

 

I say that may be involved because when I notice the problem, usually it is because I am speaking with a merchant, but they do not have the option to buy something from them. Or, I am pickpocketing someone and I can't quick load (when getting caught) because the save has become corrupt. The bright side of this is that all I have to do in order to load my game up correctly is restart the entire program from the desktop. This also fixes the merchant menu options. Does anyone know why this might be happening or which mod(s) may be causing it?

 

I do have other glitches or difficulties with my game, but all are minor in comparison.

I had a similar save bug back then, but I couldn't load my save anymore even after restarting the game.

I don't know, if this will fix your problem, but I don't use quicksave/quickload since that moment. I always make normal saves.

There are rumors, that quciksaving will lead to save corruption.

You may notice that not only do your saves get marked as corrupted, but that dialogue options don't appear, books sometimes don't load text, and dialogue menu descriptions show up as blank.

 

This all seems to be linked to the game engine itself as of the latest patch. I've been on an email exchange with Bethesda Tech Support but their help has been more or less useless.

That sounds... really.... I don't even know what to think about that. The make a game, make people buy it twice (well, for the most part, there were exceptions) and in the end.... It is broken not because of anything WE do to it but what they lacked doing with it? *faith in corporations -100 pts*

This is usually caused by what you remove from your load list. Not what is on your load list.

The only way I know to test is to create a new character with your current load list & playtest.

Most issues/bugs like this get in saves & are not in the game.

 

If you have severe script lag, quick saves can get corrupted. In the old game I tested with Convenient Horses mod & found that with an i7 & 250 plus mods I could not go below 42fps or scripts would start backing up. With SE I run less scripts so I could run at lower frame rates.

If I uses a 6 or 8 core AMD CPU(not Ryzen) it would not take much it have script issues. Laptops by design can easily have script issues as well.

To fix script lag issues you need to reduce CPU load. You either have to remove script mods or reduce meshes. In the old game I decided to remove Skyrim Flora Overhaul & SMIM(mesh mods). That alone freed up enough CPU to deal with the scripts.

 

You run lots of heavy mods. I would not run your load list on less than a i5/i7 with at least 16gb ram, video card with 6gb vram or more & the game being on an SSD or ultra high performance HD(10 or 15 thousand rpm). I would expect lots of problems without these specks.

The problem happens on a brand new save with a new character. I run Skyrim on a rather nice desktop as well, so those are two solutions that are highly unlikely for my particular problem.

 

As for the specs you would suggest for my load order, I have everything covered short of the VRAM wich is 4GB not 6 at the moment.
