nikashubaiton
Hey guys, So I'm trying to find a way to turn a static item into a vendor stand in fallout 4. The location in question already has a bar, but I want to be able to place a glass/bottle on it, and make that into an assignable vendor stand, if that makes any sense. Any ideas? KunoMochi
What game is this for? Remember, you are posting in the General Mod Author forum. You might also want to post this in the appropriate game forum for whatever game you are modding for instead.
nikashubaiton
Sorry you're right, I included it in the tags but forgot to add it in the post, it's for fallout
thumbincubation
I've never modded FO4. Does the creation kit operate the same way Skyrim does? In Skyrim, if I want some functional item to look like another item, (ie: a container for storing firewood to actually look like a stack of firewood) I would find the static I want it to look like, copy the model's file path, then find the container, duplicate it, open the duplicate and edit the model, paste the static's model filepath in, name and save it. Then I'd have a stack of firewood that I could use as a container. I'm not sure about assignable merchant stands, or even if FO 4 works the same way, but you might have luck with it. I'd suggest starting a new mod to test this, just to make sure it will let you do it, since it's only a few steps. That way, if something goes wrong, just delete it and your real mod is no worse off, but if it goes well, it's quick to redo in your real mod. nikashubaiton
That's definitely a lot more than anything I've ever done before, but I'm gonna give it a shot lol thanks for the advice, I'll give it a shot and update this when I find out
thumbincubation
Ok, good luck. I'm curious as well, as my friends have FO4 and have been asking about mods. When you go to paste the file path in, (assuming it's like skyrim) open the form and hit the edit button for the model. It will open up the edit box, and you'll have to click again and you should be at your PCs file explorer, where you would chose from your own folders. (In Skyrim I usually land right at the meshes folder already) At the bottom of the box should be the vanilla file path, already highlighted. If that's what you see, just paste it right there. It's a bit picky, so if it doesn't work the first time, try again but make sure you don't have any spaces or anything like that.
nikashubaiton
the model and the animations for said model are both appearing to be correct, but it is also 6am and I'm not close to having the place ready as a settlement to assign someone to it, I'm gonna sleep and pick it back up another time, I'll message you to see if it works though. You may have helped answer a lot of my questions!
Ethreon
You could just copy an existing bar furniture item and replace the mesh, then arrange the furniture marker to suit your needs.

I do this all the time in my mods... Simply duplicate the vendor stand you want to use and then go to its model nif and replace it with with what you want to use and finally adjust the X,Y,Z of the initial vendor stand to the nif/model you selected. Example : take a bar vendor counter and change the model to a static cash register that you place on any surface you want..
