Hi,

I'm wondering how exactly damage is calculated because I suspect I may have done something to f*#@ up balance - either that or the default game setting is just bonkers.

I'm in a cave fighting some bandits and this one bandit almost always kills me with one shot despite me doing very little to him. Checked the stats with mfg console and it's as follows:

Me:

39 HP remaining, lvl 16, armor at 98

Bandit Thug:

lvl 9, Marksman at 37, AttackDamageMult at 1, using a Longbow with base damage 6, crit 3, no active effects beside mortality

Difficulty is Adept, ie no modifiers.

As for combat mods, I have ACE Realistic combat installed (only that one module + BYOG which I don't use)

ACE gives a chance to do 1.5x damage, that's still only 13ish on a crit even.

So how is he doing 35-40+ dmg per hit to me with those stats ??

For completness sake here's all the mods I run right now, though besides ACE I don't believe any of them shoudl mess with (bow) damage

If you have immersive citizens you might not need "Run for your lives" I think Immersive Citizens covers that.

As far as I know I see no mods that would interfere with dmg manipulation. But you never know. Could be something in there.

I approached the bandit facing him and standing with weapons out, that should eliminate any modifiers from ACE...

Tried to find a combat logger mod, couldn't find anything that would display incoming damage.

So I decided to fight fire with fire, as it were, by installing Deadly Combat mod and shifting the mod's modifiers around so that ~equal level enemies represent an adequate challenge.

This sums up my feelings:
