Steam Community Modding System is Terrible.

Really which ones? I haven't experienced that yet.

One thing that has been bothering me though on this site and nexus is that many people are creating mods that have already been made.

I think on general principle they should always check and see if something has already been made - I can understand mods being hard to find at times but some people on Steam seem to believe they are the first to have some of the ideas that nexus users have made into mods for weeks, if not months now.

Edit: lol at the comment that the Nexus should tutor the workshop. So that the workshop can steal all of the Nexus' users? XD They can exist together but with official Bethesda support it will always have more users than the nexus and modders will have to deal with all of its issues if they want their mods to be downloaded by that crowd.

I made a post on bethesdas forum earlier today on a few I had found, as well as complaining about some things with the workshop actually. You can read it here: http://forums.bethsoft.com/topic/1346843-mods-uploaded-to-the-workshop-without-permission/

Looks like it got locked in order to not incite any flaming, but hopefully they will at least take some of my suggestions to heart as well.

But still would you as a major multi-million dollar company really want to release a buggy product or service that is not even the best in however specific of a market it targets and then back it 100%?

It is basically like saying hey here is the best we can do - the other site is better but we like our stuff so we will try to indirectly force everyone to use it.

I think the workshop is more of a case of the diamond in the rough. It just came out. It needs time to evolve. It's not going to be perfect from the get go. Nexus certainly wasn't. I'm not going to swear off steam workshop because of a less than stellar start.

No, but really - how long time did they need to both realize the need of a search function, and actually implement it? Considering that steam is supposed to be the one with deeper pockets, that seems a bit... lazy.

Judging by the above, how long time do you think they need before adding support for script extenders and changing load orders? if ever?

I don't think that the workshop will ever close down or anything like that, but at this point I prefer NMM without question.

The only thing the workshop does better is having an easy to access "more from this author", and autoupdates. But the NMM still tells you when you need to update, and there is an "more from this author" button here as well, though I wish it could be put into the mod pages as well and not only on the profile.

the number of nexus members make up a large portion of the skyrim pc sales and i would say anyone who have been members for more then a few months will know that the nexus is currently still better and i doubt the workshop is a massive threat to the nexus
