Moksha8088
Why does Skyrim have better looking characters than Fallout 4? I've wondered if there was some essential difference in the game engine or perhaps just a variation in the conception of how characters are supposed to look. Some of you might say wait a minute, you can get every bit as big of boobs with Fallout 4 as with Skyrim. I am not talking about the miracle of CBBE, I am thinking more about the faces. BTW, I am thankful that there are not many Fallout 4 mods that feature young female characters with pig ears. Not sure where that non-Vulcan ear idea came from for Elvish characters. Perhaps it is a non-Western cultural perception of Elves or just a preference for pig ears. Anyway, hope that doesn't come to Fallout 4 - both the pig ears and the underage female thing. oolongdao
You have sorely forgotten what base skyrim Mocs looked like it appears, because as far as I'm concerned there are only like 8 faces and 3 hair colors.

The base game for both is lacking from what mods bring to it.

TheSpaceShuttleChallenger
Probably depends on your idea of a good looking character. If you want to make a character look like one of those creepy sex dolls, then sure a fully modded Skyrim has what you need. If you want a character that looks good but blends seamlessly with the rest of the game, and if you want to be surrounded by characters with unique, expressive faces, then Fallout4 is miles better. I'm guessing that's mostly because of the type of appeal these games' worlds have. I think people are more apt to go wild with the fantasy aspect of a game like Skyrim, so you see more Mary Sues and more people trying to achieve a flawless, unnatural sort of perfection, and people are less likely to care if it doesn't fit the lore, because you know, it's a fantasy. The Fallout series, on the other hand, doesn't exactly nurture that sort of mentality. Definitely the grim, post-apolocalyptic environment isn't as welcoming to pretty anime elf-princesses, and at the same time, the gameplay itself is much, much more guided in terms of what you can do and what sort of person you can be. You really can't craft your own story to the extent that you could with Skyrim, which, I think, translates directly to people not feeling as much of a need to push the boundaries of what character creation can do. No doubt those sex dolls will make it to Fallout 4, even if they might not look as good as their Skyrim counterparts.
tomomi1922
I want to remind readers here that in order to do this, you HAVE to run both games side by side (or at least run one game right after another) to make comparison. Because if we compare strictly from memory, it is very off. Memory often stores impressions rather than an exact photo realistic copy of something. Load up your super old game and you can tell. I used to play Ultima Online, Crusader (top down action game like FO Tactics), among other games. But recently I just looked back at some of the screenshots I made of those game, and personally ran Crusader (since its free now if you have an Origin account). MY GOD! They looked horrendous. How did I put up with them? But way back then, Crusader was "so good" in graphics. Same thing last month when I loaded Sims 3 to play. It had been almost a year since I touched any game. I loaded Sims 3 as the very first game so I could enjoy some casual gaming off hours without any heavy commitment (Sims is those type of games). FO4 and Skyrim just have too many mods I had to spend hours to fix and redownload before I can even play. But low and behold, look at the graphics... it was not what I remember. So screw it, I had to go back to FO4 despite spending like 3 days straight just modding.
