Did you modify files from any game other than Skyrim? If you took actual files (assets) from any other game and modified them, then no. If it's a 100% from scratch retexture of a Dwarven Centurion, and you've done all the work, you should be able to.

Actually, if it was used as a learning experience, and is uploading it for further research as to whether it will work for people other than him, he can upload it with no setbacks.

Actually, Nexus policy doesn't allow it.

http://forums.nexusm...om-other-games/

What are the rules here on uploading ports?

Basically; you cannot upload any ported content to the Nexus as it is illegal to do so. Anyone who tells you differently is lying or doesn't have a clue about copyright laws.

In addition to this modifying and making tweaks to models, textures or animations from other games and uploading it as your own, or as a port or modification to another game's assets is still illegal and not allowed here irrespective of whether you reference credit or not.

If, however, it is true, that the UK does allow it, and it's not a violation of the EULA (I have no idea) and both the author and any recipients are in the UK, so everyone is completely covered by it, then possibly if sent privately offline without using Nexus resources. However, Nexus has been pretty clear on it's policy. Unless its from a development team that allows it (like Witcher), then if you've done all the work, it's good to go, otherwise it's a non-starter.

anyway, i think i'm allowed to post it because i saw a mod in the new vegas nexus that does contain a terminator and even an alien http://newvegas.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=41361

btw, is it allowed to use udk stuff, is it?

They probably went through and recreate the alien from scratch, that is built the model and then colored the texture to match it. You can re-create anything out there. If you want Darth Vader, Winny The Poo, and Superman to just be sitting around chill'n, if you create them from scratch, even if they are spot-on replicas, you can upload them. Nexus would love to host those files I'm sure. But if you grab a model/texture from another game and just port it into Skyrim without recieving permission from the owners of the game, then you're in trouble.

Your work, no matter what it looks like, can be added if you've done 100% of the work, or modified files already in Skyrim (e.g. retextured a Dwarven Centurion) as I understand it. But you cannot upload files to nexus that contain copyrighted assets from other games.

Read the link I posted. Dark0ne, the site owner goes into more detail. See if it fits or not.

I've noticed Witcher2 import mods where the modder just gives credit for meshes and textures to the devs of Witcher. Blue Stripes Elite mod is one such mod that is most popular right now. The assets weren't recreated and were simply imported. The only changes were to the rigging for animation.

The Witcher franchise and S.T.A.L.K.E.R. are two games that allow their assets to be used. I even referenced Witcher above. They've given permission to use those assets.
