saltycricket
I've been working on some custom clothing in Blender. I started from one of the popular body mods, and built the clothing up around that. When I exported the .nif file, I exported the body with it. For the export, I've tried to follow this tutorial exactly: http://wiki.tesnexus.com/index.php/Creating_an_armour_for_Skyrim._Part_2 Unfortunately, when I get in game the clothing meshes are invisible -- but the exported body seems to be perfectly fine, and so my character appears naked. It also displays this way within the Creation Kit. I noticed in NifSkope that the body mesh has a BSDismemberSkinInstance node, but none of the other clothing meshes have this. It's the only major difference that I can tell between my new meshes and the original body mesh. Is the node required? and if so, how can I build it? Also, it's worth nothing that the outfit looks perfect in NifSkope. It's only invisible within Skyrim. Natterforme
I have also had makor problems with exporting my custom meshes and then working with them in nifskope. I tried to follow the exact same guide that you mentioned but I cant seem to get it right. I keep getting errors and nothing seems to work. There are only two videos that I have seen about this topic and neither are very helpful. We could really use an in depth tutorial on how to fix custom meshes in nifskope so that Skyrim can read them. Or at least something that clarifies the steps and why they are necessary. Until I get past this same hurdle, I cant even begin to add the items to vendors, chests, leveled lists, or even ingame. It is really pushing my plans back farther and farther and I see now available solutions. Can anyone shed some light on this one? I am about as stumped as you are :(. -Natterforme
calyps
If the other parts don't have BSDismember you may have forgotten to copy bone weights from the body to the rest of your armor. Someone with more experience can correct me if I'm wrong, but the only time I've had BSDismember not show up was when I didn't properly weight the model. And yeah, without that you won't be seeing your model. Go back through the tutorial, it works. I followed it completely with unexpected success. edit: bone weighting is covered in Part 1, so read that.
