horouboi
so... has anyone found a working bug free settler naming mod?
H4RDC0R3V1B3Z
Name Everything. You can then give them any name you wish through the console, with no limit to characters.

H4RDC0R3V1B3Z
Immersive Settlers is the one I used to have, but found the pool to be quite limited and often ended up with at least three-out-of-five with the same names. With Name Everything, you can give them proper full names (First name, middle and surname) if you wish. Or call them any abusive name you can think of. It has much more freedom than those other naming mods.
JakubDaviau
Immersive Settlers is the one I used to have, but found the pool to be quite limited and often ended up with at least three-out-of-five with the same names. This "Name Everything" mod sounds really interesting and like something i had in mind for quite a while, except i wanted option to name settlers in game through either dialogue option with them or maybe through computer console in settlement, for instance if you build computer in the settlement you could use "census" option there that would list all the settlers there and you could edit info about them like their name and such. Unfortunately i cannot find this mod on nexus, if you linked it here the link doesn't work any more, is this mod still around? EDIT 01: I think i found it, unless its something very similar: http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/22105/?tab=1&navtag=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.nexusmods.com%2Ffallout4%2Fajax%2Fmoddescription%2F%3Fid%3D22105%26preview%3D&pUp=1 Its still a pitty you have to use the console though, renaming settlers through computer or dialogue would be better and more immersive EDIT 02: I just noticed that the same author has another mod that adds custom hotkeys and you can even assign console command to it, perhaps that could be used with this mod for quicker renaming, that would be interesting Edited May 14, 2017 by JakubDaviau
H4RDC0R3V1B3Z
Yeah, sorry it's Rename Anything. Got the premise of the name down, just not exactly lol. It works with practically... well... Anything. Weapons, clothes, items, NPCs. Just don't use it on unique characters, it's been known to cause all manner of issues. Settlers are fine. I have a couple of "USAF Military Supply Escort" NPCs trafficking supplies around. There is no limit to the amount of text you can enter but to add spaces you'll need to wrap the words with quotation marks, like this: setname "long name wrapped in quotation marks" Works with most things but there are some limitations and it will tell you if that is the case. I've noticed that Provisioners are unable to be renamed. I used the Workers from The Slog for my Supply Lines, they can be renamed after being assigned to the SL as their name doesn't change to Provisioner. The only ones I've found who can, so far. Well, to integrate that kind of function into the game for "immersive" reasons would most likely be a ridiculous amount of work. It does the job perfectly for what it is. Besides, if you were looking for immersion, they would already be named upon birth and way before arriving at your Settlement (which Immersive Settlers does) lol. I use that Hotkeys mod as well. It's easily the best thing here. Haven't tried it with setname but try it, will probably work. Hotkeys works with mod commands. I've got West-Tek NVG mod set to N and it hasn't stopped working yet. H4RDC0R3V1B3Z
Makes sense, thanks! :D i started game from the beginning, as soon as i have some settlers ill try it out No worries! You can also rename items in your inventory as well as using workbenches. Press X to Inspect, then T to rename. Works with most things but obviously be careful what you rename. Quest items and such, leave alone. Just to be on the safe side. If you have mod setting holotapes (such as G2M, True Storms or Snappy HouseKit), they seem to be okay with altering. I put the prefix [ Settings ] on each one that didn't already have it, so they were all neatly organised at the bottom of the Misc tab and all still function as intended.
