Invisible Dragon Skeleton

Recommended Posts

OK, so I've made a new dragon, with its own race, skin, armor, outfit, texture set (the list goes on and on), copying the existing vanilla dragons in order to do this.

When in-game, it works great. But there's a catch. When I absorb its soul, the burning animation works fine, but there is no skeleton at all. It leaves behind a floating mouth and eyeballs - then, after a second, its flesh reappears.

I cannot for the life of me figure out where on earth to fix this. I've tried putting the skeleton meshes and textures in my custom folders - nothing. I've even scoured the CK's vanilla dragons, trying to find where their skeleton "underskin" is put (in armor, armor addon, outfit, etc.) so that they show up. But the underskin doesn't appear to be referenced by any of the vanilla dragons anywhere! :verymad: So how do they leave a skeleton behind, and mine doesn't?

I am seriously ready to strangle the CK. :wallbash: Any help at all would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks ahead of time,

Auri

The dragon skeleton is referenced under actors/dragon/underskin. This works for its mesh as well as its textures. I hope this helps^^. And ya, Im about ready to strangle the CK too.

edit: realized this probably doesnt help at all  .

Thanks, anyway. :)

I've only got about one or two more things that I can try. If those don't work, it might actually be a bug with the CK - in which case, my plans are going to be put on hold for a while.

Woohoo! I figured it out!

When making new dragons, do not duplicate the dragon race to make your own. Put your new dragon in the dragon race category, making sure you have made the proper texture set, armor addon, and armor skin for it (if you plan on using custom textures). On the body tab of your dragon, just change the skin to your custom "armor/skin"...don't change the outfit in the inventory tab. That way, it will use the vanilla dragon underskin and the bloodied wing, head, and tail textures, but it will use your custom outer skin.

I've still got a slight issue of lingering teeth and eyeballs, but they disappear after a second, so I'm happy. :P

Great to hear! I do now that the eye balls and teeth are seperate meshes from the dragon body(they use the same texture map but are considered seperate when in blender import). Maybe you need to apply this same technique to those meshes. Just a thought!

I hope you figure it out!

Hmm. That's interesting. I'll have to look into that.
