Importing Custom Weapons Into Skyrim

Recommended Posts

Lets keep this simple looking for a simple breakdown on getting a mesh ive modeled, sculpted, and textured in game, from scratch not looking to replace meshes, I wish to add content, so here goes,

Item Number: 1

Dragon Bone Smasher: from Demon Souls,

As you can see Mesh / Normal Map / Diffuse Map / Spec Map are done and ready,

everytheres there, got the OBJ file, just need to get it in game and working. If i can get some help and get walked through the process I can then add a bunch more weapons

Most guides I see require replacing or using another file to get the item working in game, sadly ive had little luck with this, the item works but textures dont, thus why i want to try this from scratch.

As you can see this is the farthest me and a friend managed to get

The above is what i wish to concentrate on but other Items in the works include;

among others.

Any help would be appreciated.

Please explain your complete process for adding items ingame both with nifskope and with the creation kit. I am in desperate need of help in this department because I have a lot of projects that I would like to get moving with but I cant because I dont know what to do after exporting the meshes from blender. What do I need to do in nifskope to get everything in harmony? If you could shed some light on this I would be most grateful^^.

i am in need of help thus why i posted here, what you see is how far i got, i needed someone else to do the rest, i got lucky someone helped me, and we discovered

you cannot use full custom meshes etc, you essentially are forced to use a stand in file no matter what in order to get proper shaders etc on the mesh to add textures and a bunch of other things. Im still in the dark but

In a nut shell thats what you have to do, its dumb, never had to these kind of hurdles in previous Bethesda games, they're creation get is far less friendly this time around. cant edit textures in the construction set aka apply them there, which is what tossed me through a loop. still hopefully the below tutorial is all ive found, and its still not perfect you will still likely have issues.

http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/485274-video-tutorial-how-to-get-custom-weapons-into-skyrim/

The End result after another 3 hours of tweaking and problem solving was this

Need To work on textures more, but otherwise its progress.

Thank you for the fast reply. If I could get to even this stage, I would be very happy. It would allow me to start cranking out my armor mashups and then going from there as opposed to just sitting here waiting for someone to update nifskope/the CK/Blender/alternate 3D program to actually start working on my stuff. I will report back if I have any success or if I need anymore help. Who knows, we might be able to help each other^^.

hopefully dont worry im not going anywhere got around 10-15 more weapons to try and work out... just because one works dosent mean ill succeed a second time, I am a modeler first and foremost, in previous games, I had others deal with textures and importing into the game. al the modders i know have long since quit and disappeared

I understand completely. I can model a lot of different things and use the vanilla stuff to create some nice combinations(when nifscope and blender can read the files-_-) but I cant do much else. Sure I can retexture items(since I know my way around Photoshop pretty well) but I cant get anything ingame so it doesnt help me at all. Oblivion wasnt so hard because I could figure out how to add items to a chest or vendor but everything is turned on its head now.

Hopefully what the guy in the video says comes true and we wont have to play hopscotch between the different programs to get a desired result. As he put it, the workflow should improve and there will be a lovely little button in blender that says Skyrim in the default export settings that will make my life easier. The tutorials are also picking up so Im hoping that someone makes a video that explains how to add items to npc vendors. The wiki is seriously vague right now. I dont know what Bethesda is doing right now but I hope it involves patches, wiki pages, "improved workflow," and heaps and heaps of free DLC. I want some quality free content that doesnt involve fixing broken quests. :pinch:
