MasterElements
I've tried pages and pages of googling random threads for troubleshooting fixes and tweaks to no avail. I played the game since early april with no problems then a few weeks ago it crashed and has since crashed on main menu or within 20 seconds. I have reverted to having NO mods and I don't own any of the DLC. I have no idea what to do anymore to try and just play. I need help. Specs; 4095MB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070, ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC. H4RDC0R3V1B3Z
Verify integrity of game files perhaps? https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=2037-QEUH-3335
MasterElements
I have done that several times after many clean installs. Thank you for the suggestion but it has not worked.
H4RDC0R3V1B3Z
You could always try my settings, and see if it works? All DLC, 200 mods, mostly Ultra and whatnot. Very rarely crashes, only in the urban areas once every now and again. Has never crashed at the menu like that. It's a long shot but what have you got to lose, right? Head to this page, scroll down a bit and there is a long post with my current game settings, .ini tweaks and graphics card settings. Might work, might not. Unsure of what could be causing it to crash like that, with a clean install. I would say there might be something wrong with your card but that is probably worst-case and the very last thing to worry about. it's most likely an error or conflict somewhere. Maybe leftover files or something. Who knows. Process of elimination and all that. Edited May 20, 2017 by H4RDC0R3V1B3Z
MasterElements
I have been getting some graphical stuttering if you look at this screenshot of Guild Wars 2, on the wall just above the butterfly on my characters shoulder, you can see rectangle graphical glitches. They were stuttering in game when I took the shots a few minutes ago from this post. http://i.imgur.com/CKKEi16.jpg http://i.imgur.com/DWZDm3F.jpg Never had those before, and Guild Wars 2 is not a huge impact on my PC. Edit: Also I tried your settings and they didn't work. I am actually gonna take my computer down to the store I got it from to see if they can do anything. Maybe it's a hardware issue. H4RDC0R3V1B3Z
Yeah, if you're having issues with more than one game then it could well end up being a card issue. It might have become dislodged or need a good cleaning. Excessive dust is often the cause of graphical glitches too.
tazman171
I have the exact issue with Fallout 4, it was fine a month ago and then just quit working. Can't get past the "press any key" message. Completely wiped game data, reinstalled, turned off all mods, other programs, tried to restart with no saves, yada yada yada, still can't play. Hell I can't even get to the fricking menu. So it isn't your comp hardware, lots of people have reported the same issue. Been playing since it came out on pc so this has really got me frustrated. MasterElements
I am glad that I am not alone, I am also currently talking to Bethesda support so [sarcasm]IF[/sarcasm] they give me a solution I'll pass it here.
H4RDC0R3V1B3Z
The problem with asking official support, is that they will give you generic replies (as do most companies who provide technical support) and probably ask you to do the same things as posted here, in the forums. Bethesda don't know your system and can't predict how it handles specific functions. Only you know that. Hence, you will probably receive copy/pasted emails with what to do. Verify cache, uninstall/reinstall, verify game file integrity, don't use mods, make sure it's the latest version, install the latest drivers for your graphics card. There, I just did most of their work for them lol. I wouldn't expect a "dead certain" solution from them. Your issue might only be specific to your setup and/or configuration. Most of the time, you will simply have to go through the "process of elimination" to find out what is the cause of any bug, glitch or crashing. And even then, you might not find it. There have also been times where I've had issues with a game, left it for over a year, come back and it's worked first time.
