Creation Kit, How to edit NPCs?

Some of those mods have individual esp for each NPC as an option, so you can pick and choose who you want to overwrite. Sounds like you grabbed that one? But I agree with tirnoney, you don't need the separate Lydia.esp since you already have a mod that changes her installed. I didn't know that when I went through the procedure early on in the thread. I would just make your modification to the Bijin file directly. And if they have a separate esp just for Lydia option, all the better.

just out of curiosity, if anyone is willing to answer, i'm curious about HDT physics type stuff as in making my own HDT type equipment. since i already have the HDT extension, would CK cover this or do i need to use a different program? if so what is it? and how do i go about retexturing anything be it vanilla or modded already?

You're going to have to write the HDT physics parameters in xml. And for retexturing, I just use GIMP - it's open source software and does everything I need it to. There is a separate DDS plugin file you'll need for the textures IIRC. Open the file up without mipmaps to edit, then regenerate them on export when you are ready to save.

Lol is there any good tutorials out there for retexturing?)

Hi,

I try to create a follower. Her weight is 65. A Breaton Female. Her Height is 1.00 . My npc' s neck doesn' t match to her body and there is space, transparency. When I use the command "setnpcweight 100" command in the game "Skyrim", it matches. How can I resolve this problem in Creation Kit? Or I have to match it first in Nifskope? What can you suggest?

Thank you in advance...

Can't really help with the HDT stuff, I just started messing with it myself and made some followers with jiggling body parts using Bodyslide 2 to convert clothing and armor. I looked at the xml files and that is where you apply the force, mass, etc.

I'm sure there are plenty of tutorials on using GIMP, don't know because I used to use Photoshop and just switched. I just dive in and figure things out. DDS is the format the game uses for textures. Mip maps are just the smaller versions of each texture the game displays at further and further distances. They are baked into the DDS file. So when you go to open one in GIMP it will prompt you to open the mip maps, just say no, as you'll need to make new ones based on your edited file. Make your edits, and when you go to save you do that as an export - it will prompt you if you want to generate the mip maps, and say yes. You have to do that because you have changed the texture...

You set the NPC weight on the first tab when you open up the character by double clicking. You then have to regenerate the facegendata to resize the head mesh to match the weight of the body (ctrl-F4 with the NPC character highlighted in "actors"). And unfortunately if you have a save with the character at the old weight it will be baked into the save. To fix that issue, open up the console, click on the character, use setnpcweight to the new value, then type in "disable", then "enable". The NPC will be refreshed at the correct weight.

I want to mod Farkas, just tweak his stats so they make sense and modify his appearance a little. I loaded the npc editor but I can't get it to work without installing mucho other software & stuff, so i'm trying to mod him on the creation kit.

Is this possible to do and can I do it without starting the game over, i'm level 56 now and have completed the main companions quest line. He is follower/marriagable material right now.

I'm brand new to the modding scene, so this would be my first. Also I've seen mods for the companions and followers but nothing that's not so buggy it's worthwhile and nothing that is attractive to me.
