NWilder97
Ok so I am brand new to modding. Have been a console guy for most of my Skyrim adventures and I just bought it for PC the Special Edition. I wanted to learn how to mod and create my own weapons but I'm struggling... I understand there are so many tutorials on this but none of them help with my issue, I have tried using the new SE Meshes extracted from BSA files and uploaded them into Nifskope but when I open Nifskope it only shows 1 block called BSNode and nothing else. I don't understand where all these NiTriShapes and other blocks are located and when I export into an OBJ file to move it in blender it shows up invisible in blender... Is there some new way with the new blender and Nifskope available? I tried downloading old versions to match the videos for the original Skyrim but nothing seems to work. Any advice would be appreciated please..!
thumbincubation
The BSFadeNode should show up in the left column, with a small arrow next to it, to expand the tree. If you don't see the arrow there, look in the top right corner (of that same left column, the block list) and you should see double up and down arrows, like upright and inverted corporal's stripes. They will expand and collapse all the trees so you can find what you need. I have no experience at all in importing or exporting, though. I'm sorry. thumbincubation
I thought I remembered reading that import was permanently disabled on the newer versions. You may be able to hit niftools or sourceforge page, get a previous version and do what you need with Oldrim meshes, then use the newer version to convert them to SSE. I've had to do that with a few weapons, because the new SSE meshes don't give me the "scale vertices" option.
thumbincubation
Here's what I think is the latest. Unless something has changed, Jon seems to be the last person working on it. https://github.com/jonwd7/nifskope/releases/tag/v2.0.dev6#downloads_2_0_dev6

That would make a lot of sense since I can't get new SSE files into blender properly. If you wouldn't mind, is there somewhere where I can get old Skyrim files without owning it? I don't have it on the PC, I never bought it unfortunately
thumbincubation
That I don't know about. You might be able to scour the oldrim nexus for a modder's resource with what will work for you, or a retexure in which the mesh is unedited. Outside of that, I think downloading via steam is the only option.
thumbincubation
That being said, hopefully someone more knowledgeable will see this thread, and offer an effective way to get the SSE meshes where you need them.
