MooTwo23
So I want to get into 3D Modeling to make a small mod or hell maybe even a game, I have about £5 to spend and have no clue what the best software I could get for free or on that budget would be. Anyone that 3D models, any suggestions?
madmongo
I personally use Blender, mostly because of the cost (it's free). Blender works fairly well, and can export to a bunch of different formats. If you are modding a specific game, make sure that Blender can export to whatever format it uses. I know from personal experience that if you are exporting to Oblivion, Fallout 3, or Fallout New Vegas, you need a very specific version of Blender (2.49b) with a specific set of tools to export to the nif format that those games use. There's a download somewhere on the nexus that has the correct version and all of the tools with all of their correct versions so that everything all works together. Different games may require different versions of Blender. Find a good guide for modeling whatever game you are after and make sure you use their recommendations, otherwise you can drive yourself batty trying to get things to work. Blender Noob to Pro is an excellent resource. With some games, you may find that something like 3ds Max is pretty much required in order to make models for it, and very often the free version won't do what you need it to do. The pay version of 3ds Max ain't cheap. It's well over your £5 budget.

MooTwo23
Image: http://imgur.com/bmSXufM *Update* Downloaded blender last (UK time) night and spent about 20 minutes learning the ins and outs. Woke up today and spent ~1hr to 1/2 hrs making this advert for Slocum's Joe advert. Thanks for recommending Blender to me!
