Sudden CTDs

As the title says, I have all the suddenly been experiencing CTDs that make the game unplayable. The game worked perfectly fine yesterday, not to mention the other 70+ days that I have owned the game for. So here's the rundown: I started up the game today (installed a few mods through Nexus Mod Manager as usual) and loaded a save in Whiterun. I left for the outskirts of the city to head to a quest marker. Then the game just crashed. No error messages or anything -- it just closed to the desktop. Then I reloaded and tried again. About 3 minutes later, it crashes again. I tried like two more times after this (I tried disabling a few mods too, like high-res texture packs) and the game still crashed. Now, when I try to restart the game, it doesn't even finish loading the main menu before it crashes instantly. I have restarted my computer and reloaded the game multiple times, but it is still crashing the moment it loads up. I have no idea what to do. It can't be my computer or anything, as I have run the game with no problems for months. Is it possible that I have too many mods? I don't know how that could effect startup, but it's really the only thing I can think of. Just from a quick count of my mods in NMM, I have what looks like at least 140+ different mods. So please, any help? It's really needed and it will be appreciated.

Could also be the load order of the mods, have you tried running BOSS yet and have it reorder the mods accordingly ?

Also you did disable the mods you stated that you *just* installed ???

If any of them were texture mods, do you have the official High Res pack too ?

If so there are some tricks to disable the .ESP's that were associated with the high res packs, mainly you can use NMM to uncheck the esp's and the high res packs will still function.

I -think- I've fixed the problem. I literally just went through NMM and deleted like 30 different mods. The game appears to cooperate now, thankfully. Thanks for the tips, though. I'll keep those in mind if I experience any similar problems in the future.

I noted awhile back that one of the mods caused this for me too, I just reloaded BOSS and it grabbed the latest master list file and reordered and saved, then the problem went away.

I have a routine now that if there is any existing mod/mods that I update, I update them under NMM and then exit.

I run BOSS to reorder if need be and then run NMM again and launch.
