Need help with Gibbed RED Tools

Recommended Posts

I'm having similar issues and believe I've found a solution but can't yet confirm personally. In brief, repacking shouldn't be necessary - instead we can just put the files into the CookedPC folder appropriately, as CrookedPC overrides any other relevant file - if I understand correctly. So I believe all that's necessary is to drag the 'game' folder in this mod into 'CookedPC'. See this thread for details. Beyond that I was able to repack by making sure I used quotations in the command line, putting the unpacked folders/files into a new 'pack0' folder and making sure my new 'pack0' was designated to be packed, but it came out weird.

If you're following mod suggestions and guides like I am also be aware that there are a lot of warnings about the Extreme Quality Flora mod - based on posts on the Nexus I believe my game was f*#@ed up by it.

Yay, a reply!

I might try doing what Feregorn said in that thread. As for your repacking attempts, I've done the quotations and putting them into a new pack0 folder, but how do you designate it to be packed, like you say?

I hadn't seen that about the Flora mod, I might just disable that one if there are problems. Especially since my computer isn't a beast.

okay I figured it out

the command should be "Gibbed.RED.Pack.exe" ["output folder\xxx.dzip"] [input folder of unpacked files"]

After Gibbed.RED.Pack.exe it should be the output path followed by the name of the file you want

In your case I imagine it would be "D:\External Files\pack0.dzip"

This will create the dzip file in your External Files folder

I'm guessing your full command would be

Gibbed.RED.Pack.exe "D:\External Files\pack0.dzip" ""D:\External Files\Witcher 2 unpacked"

So you have to put the output BEFORE the input? Geez, that makes no sense at all. Thanks a lot for figuring this out!

...I tried the command as you specified, and removed the first quotation mark in the input path, because I figured it was just a typo that you had put 2 sets there. The program didn't freeze or give me an error, but it seems to just be sitting there and not doing anything. It's still blinking the little white bit that shows you where your typing will go, but typing does nothing. I don't know if it's actually doing anything or not. :/

Hello, I was just wondering if you ever figured this out. I am having the same issue.

...Well, it's just sitting there blinking, but it is working because my Pack0.dzip file size is slowly increasing. It just doesn't provide any update info while it is running. Thanks for this thread. I also had my input/output paths backwards...

Ok i got this figured out. Amd is a lot easier than people ate making it out to be. First of all unpack gibbed red tools, on nexus the guy who posted it said not to but i unzipped it before reading. And just fyi you don't need to use command prompt to unzip them. Right click on the dzip file click change opens with, click more apps or whatever out was with older windows, look for another app on this pc (or whatever), navigate to gibs.red.unpack and select. Now when you double click the dzip it will unpack all by itself automatically. Now onyo the matter ay hand. (I unzipped to my desktop so keep in mind where your own gibtools folder is, and idk if it works zipped it might). Open command prompt and type cd (destination of gibed tools, easiest thing to do right click on and gibbed.red file and open properties and copy the location. So for me it was cd c\users\name\desktop\gibbed red tools (just like that no "") now type gibbed.red.pack "path to folder you want to pack" so for me step 2 was gibbed.red.pack "c\users\name\desktop\new folder\pack0" its super fast so you might not be sure it did anything but in new folder or wherever you will have the dzip named whatever the folder was named.
