snapper69
I lost the ability to assign settlers to any jobs, settlers that I'd assigned to stores either refused to talk to me (that was ok, I get that IRL as well) or didn't have any caps. That said, I hope that the author fixes it and brings it back, I'm going to start a new playthrough sometime soonish and I liked this mod.
garthagain
RE: Ethreon "The mod's been pulled ...... works with just the renaming ........... using any of the other functions means bye to your save." Thanks for that Ethreon. I recall reading that in posts or comments when I searching the web for solutions and advice on the mod some time ago. I have to reinterate, I,m running Version 1.5.157.0 of FO4. This may make a difference. Updates, 1.6 and on may cause increased instability, and complete failure of the mod. I haven't got time to do this, but I know there are related posts and comments out there. If anyone is so inclined, links to related info could be put here. As I recall there are yays and nays. Some people had no problems, others experienced disaster with their saves. I didn't read anywhere that anyone that uninstalled the mod, and continued from a good save, had further problems. I sure don't want to leave people with bad advice, so anyone reading this post and comments, should read carefully. I have to agree, if there is a safe alternative you like, use it. I sure don't want to leave people with bad advice, so anyone reading this post and comments, should read carefully. I have to agree, if there is a safe alternative you like, use it. as said by virtually everyone, DCMS can totally bork your save.it doesn't matter which version of Fallout you have. what matters is that there are scripts in DCMS that stop settlers from working correctly.the ONLY thing in DCMS that MIGHT be safe is the renaming and there are other mods that do that.Sim Settlements has settlement management features (highlight homeless/unemployed and things missing power) Immersive Settlers renames settlers (although it does have a limited pool of names) and there are console commands to name settlers. so it works in your game and you are happy to risk your save and all the hours you have invested in it, but DON'T EVER tell people that a mod {that the author acknowledges causes irreparable damage to saves} is safe to use. all that will do is fill the trouble shooting forums with people who have broken their saves based on your advice. garthagain
Going back to my initial post One thing I didn't do in this post is explain how I beat the bug. I had assumed everyone would watch the video, but that's not the case. On last check there were 185 veiws on this page, and only 33 veiws of the video. Given the way the discussion has gone here, I certainly am not going to recommend anything, but I am going to add what people would have got, had they watched the video. The link to the video was removed because it violated Nexus rules, and that's fair, I didn't know any better when I linked it. For the record: 1. I discovered I was only getting the bug on rare occasion, after installing a new mod, usually settlement related. I didn't make this discovery right away though, as I usually wasn't using DCMS right after installing another mod, and as a result I ended up with bugged saves. 2. I finally tracked it down and started checking DCMS after every new mod install or change. 3. If DCMS was malfunctioning (rare), I didn't do a save, but quit the game and reinstalled DCMS. 4, I then checked to make sure it was working properly, and, on every occasion it was, and it reliably continued to do so. Also for the record, I have 180 mods and 52 game hours in this playthrough, using this method. Not one bugged save. MightyZ0G
the save breaker has nothing to do with installing new mods. DCMS has worked fine for people and then without warning they can't assign settlers, and this has nothing to do with adding new mods, it is to do with scripts in DCMS. everything can appear to work properly for several hours, especially if you are off doing quests and not spending time in settlements, and then you find that your settlers wont do anything.some of the problem scripts can be fixed with Fallrim Tools, but not all. garthagain
I believe this is relevant, and it is why I didn't update to patch 1.6. https://techraptor.net/content/new-fallout-4-patch-breaking-settlementshttps://community.gophersvids.com/topic/3484-settler-bug-since-16-update/https://community.bethesda.net/thread/54965?start=0&tstart=
Gruffydd
That was a year ago. As far as I can tell (and I spend a lot of my in-game time going to different settlements) this is long fixed.
MightyZ0G
that's also a completely different issue. DCMS doesn't unload and recycle actors/NPCs, it stops them from working. you can't interact with them.yes they are both breaking the settlers but in different ways. Ethreon
FFs.. use the damn mod if you're really intent on it. Just don't go around shouting how it's great and totally works when there's evidence clearly suggesting the opposite. All the respect to the MA, but even he pulled it off for repairs. garthagain
O K Ethreon ".... use the damn mod if you're really intent on it..... " I'll shut up . A bit off topic, but somewhat relevant: Even though it's one of my favorites, Fallout 4 is the worst game I've run into in terms of mods bugging the game in obscure and hard to track ways. (I'll leave it at that. This could, and maybe should be a discussion topic in a new separate post. Someone else can do it though, I'm not going to.)
