First Playthough With mods

Hey everyone.

This is my first post here on the forums as I just recently built my first dedicated gaming PC in over 12 years, and trying to take things a bit further into the gaming world.

PC specs:
I7-7700k

ROC Z270-E Mobo
16Gb RAM
500GB Dedicated boot/game M.2 SSD
GTX 1060 6gb (1080p monitor)

anyway, I jumped on the STEAM promotion for fallout4 over the memorial day weekend and ended up really liking the game premise, So I bought the game and the season pass. (*and downloaded the high res DLC, which I DID notice a difference on, but its not QUITE up to snuff it seems) I want to play though the whole game, but I also want to add a bit more immersion to the play though, and was wondering if you guys could point me in the right direction. I'm fairly newb when it comes to modding. I've only really added tracks and cars to sim racing games in the past. So this is on a whole new level for me.

Things that are important to me:
Performance -

I want to stay around 60 FPS (my GPU is the bottleneck here, but I spec'd it for the display I currently own which, unfortunately is only 1080p)
Load screens-

I would like to keep the load screens between the commonwealth and "interiors" as short as possible. But I am willing to give a little here if necessary. (as mentioned above, the game is installed on an SSD)
Immersion-
I want to ENHANCE the standard game. I am not looking for mods that take away all of the challenge or pull me out of the story.
Achievements-
I want to still be able to earn them, even with my first play though modded. Its just a personal preference.

There are TONS and TONS of mods available for this game, but being a newb, and not having basically any knowledge of what I am doing, I'm not sure where to start and hoping you guys could help me build a list of compatible mods that will help give the game a little more... immersive oomph. Thanks

if you use better companions you don't need companion infinite ammo

I would recommend More Smarter Companions which gets rid of some of their annoying habits

I would also recommend Reneer's Radio Mod which lets you choose the radio station on the different radios around the commonwealth and in settlements

Thanks for the reply. Would you recommend More smarter Companions over better companions? basically, My interest in a mod like this is (from the museum anyway) there is NO WAY Preston would even be alive. he cant hit anyone with HIS own rifle to save his own life... so whats the point? I have been roaming the wasteland just me and Dogmeat ever since I met them. and if other NPCs/Companions are the same, its going to be a long, lonely road for the pup and I. ha! Granted, I am playing for the first time on "Very Hard" so maybe the game compensates the difficulty by forcing me to kill all the enemys on my own? still... so far this has been a MAJOR buzzkill

use both, they do different things.

More Smarter Companions gives them each their own unique flavour. Deacon is a first class sniper using this mod. give him a fully upgraded hunting rifle and he is great back up.

Eli's Armour Compendium is another mod that is worth getting. it has unique outfits for each companion as well as some fantastic lore friendly outfits for your settlers (one of the options in Better Settlers)

you might also want to get the merged patch for Better Settlers and New Settlers. just install this after Better Settlers and select the same options you did for BS and select just Better Settler-New Settler option unless you have Better Female Settlers as well. you only need Better Settlers to use the BS-NS patch and it makes the settlers even more varied.

Great info! I'll swap them around on my list next time I'm on my pc. (Using my phone right now)

Aside from your suggestions, do you think these mods should run smoothly on a gtx 1060 6gb gpu and ultra settings? I don't want to go overkill with the mods on my first play through. I just want to enhance the game to where I feel it is lacking off the bat. Thanks for the help!

I got the game modded up and working well! Thanks guys... I do have 1 more question though,

I am wondering if it is possible to give specific characters different CBBE bodies seperate from other NPCs? more specifically, Piper, Cait, and Curie *and any other significant role female character I will encounter* each individually different?

Piper: busty and thick
Cait: slim, athletic, fit
Curie: since she is a synth, I'm thinking something a little more wild like the Josie preset, basically, crazy thin with larger assets & over the top "anime" curves

Magnolia: well, shes a lady of the night, so why not "sloot" her up a bit?

can this be done? I would like the mods to stay in place specific to each if possible, including during the Immersive lovers embrace mod.

Thanks in advance

your best bet is to search the Nexus mods for Piper Cait and Curie to find ones you like the look of and use bodyslide on their outfits

But wouldn't this method use the preset "body" of standard NPCs when they are... ahem... no longer wearing their outfits?

EDIT: I think I found it! Unique Followers

Your PC should be fine I have lesser specs (listed below) and run at a higher resolution than 1080p and ultra with a bunch of 4k textures and still get around 60 fps on special edition.

PC SPECS:

MSI GAMING 5 MOTHERBOARD

MSI GTX 980 TI (6GB)

32GB of ram

ASUS PG278Q (1440p @ 144hz)

GAME NOTES:

-Ultra graphics (BethINI settings with a shadow resolution of 2k (default was 4k))

-1440p game resolution

Notable Mods:

-Skyrim 2017 texture pack (huge 4k texture pack)

-1/4 grass resolution (but increased grass density for game by 4x so that is basically the same but looks nicer)

-Open cities skyrim

-Realistic water two

-Dolomite weathers

All these settings and I get around 60 fps (get a few frame drops here and there but its bearable)

Just noticed it was fallout 4 lol you should still be fine. I have yet to remod that game I'm gonna probably remod it in the next few days. But I was getting around 60 fps last time with same PC and game settings the only issue I had was the cities fps got to 40 fps or so.
