Fallout 4 Missing Clothes, Textures, and Companion Files

The other day I installed a few mods for some *ahem* special purposes. I installed BLH's Animations, Dave's Pose Template, and the files Dave's Pose Template required. I did all the steps the manual told me and put it directly into my Fallout 4 Folder. The issue arose when I shut my computer off after installing these and then I turned it back on and started up Fallout 4. All 6 of my "Companions" mods, including the face changers for Piper and Cait, didn't work. My "06 Synth Follower for CBBE" was just a floating, hairless head, and piper's Kerrigan Body suit was invisible, making her a floating head. My CBBE and Atomic Beauty mods dissapeared, and the default female body is just the vanilla version. I deleted the files I manually installed, but nothing changed. I uninstalled Dave's Pose Template and BLH's animations, as well, but that didn't work either. It seems all my clothing, companions, and Hair, Face, and Body mods stopped working. If you've got any idea what happened and a solution, I would be most grateful.

How many mods are in your load order? Is it possible you currently have too many, and surpassed the limitations? I'm not entirely positive, but I believe 250 and over is where problems start to occur.

EDIT: Also, try restarting your computer again. I'm not sure if that's even related to the problem, and I don't think it would be, but if you haven't tried that yet, give it a shot. Sometimes computers are funky and mess up like that from time to time.

If all else fails, try verifying the integrity of your game files* (assuming you own the game on Steam), as its possible that when manually uninstalling those mods, you may have deleted necessary files for the game that were just edited by the mods but not necessarily added. Do you remember if when manually installing, if you had to overwrite anything? If you just deleted those files, that's probably your problem right there.

If you don't have it on steam, then I don't know what else to suggest other then reinstalling completely.

*To verify the integrity of your game files on steam, go to your steam library, right-click on Fallout 4, go to properties, and click on the tab "Local Files". The option to verify the integrity of game files is there.

I have 99 total plugins, 93 of which are active.

106 installed and total mods, but 105 are active mods.

I did as you said with the whole "Verify game integrity." It didnt work, but I will try the other option you suggested. Thank you for trying, though, I do appreciate it very much!

EDIT: I have restarted my computer countless times, uninstalled NMM entirely, deactivated each mod individually, and the problem still remains.

Only thing I can think of is reinstalling the broken mods all over again. Either using NMM or doing it manually. At least that has helped me on a couple of occassions when I screwed up my game :)

I'm surprised verifying game integrity didn't work, that stinks, but alright.

Another possible hiccup could be your ini file. Have you checked to make sure the necessary changes are there for modding? Maybe it was overwritten or changed somehow...?

How to enable modding

  1. Navigate to your Fallout 4 Folder at the following location "Documents/My Games/Fallout 4"

  2. Within this folder you'll find a number of .ini files.

  3. Open (or create, if missing) Fallout4Custom.ini with your favourite text editor (we use Notepad++).

  4. Add the following lines to your Fallout4Custom.ini

    [Archive]
    bInvalidateOlderFiles=1
    sResourceDataDirsFinal=
  5. Save and close Fallout4Custom.ini

If everything checks out there, then... What do you use as a mod manager? I'm only familiar with NMM, so these instructions will reflect that. If you go to your mods list (not the plugin list / load order but the mods tab) in NMM, completely uninstall and remove/delete each mod that you've downloaded since this problem started occurring. You may even want to do the same with the mods that are giving you problems that weren't prior to all this stuff happening. Do that, then reinstall each mod.

I know you said you manually installed them, and when that's the case, it's possible to mess up and miss something or delete something unintentionally. I'd recommend reinstalling those mods with a mod manager such as NMM (if possible) and allowing it to overwrite any previous files/versions relevant to what you had manually installed.

If all else fails, back-up your saves and put them somewhere safe, and uninstall all of your mods and then uninstall Fallout 4. Then you'll have to reinstall Fallout 4 and any mods you may have downloaded... I know that's a major bummer but it may be what's necessary if nothing else seems to work. In this case, for any future mods you may install, I'd avoid manual installation whenever possible and stick to mod managers. They're very convenient, useful, and tend to prevent accidents like this from happening.
