Trying to justify joining the Stormcloaks as Dunmer

Think it wouldn't matter. Already Galmar always explains that the Stormcloaks will take anyone as long as they fight for them and the cause and not for selfish gain like money. There are some other factors:

 

One of the complaints the Nords have when you first walk in is that the dark elves do not help the Stormcloaks. By helping them there is no reason for them to dislike you.

 

Dunmer aren't a hive-mind and while there are Dunmer that are vocal anti-Nords there are also Dunmer that think that their kin are being too whiny in Windhelm which is a criticism shot at the one who owns the New Gnisis corner club.

 

The Thalmor look down on Dunmer so there is that angle.

 

As pointed out your character could be a talos worshipper.

I note that most Dunmer in the Gray Quarter are Hlaalu. Even other Dunmer no longer like the Hlaalu. It would actually be pretty easy to see a Redoran at least working with the Stormcloaks, if not following their ideals.

it perfectly fine joining the Stormcloak as dunmer both hate the thalmor dunmer out of hate for Aedra worship and nord from elf supremacist and mer hatred from great war and falmer trying to murder nords colonizing skyrim

 

there also the fact Imperial outlawed deadra worship after oblivion crisis as said by the vigilantes so dunmer have no reason to side with the empire who will likely invade to purge deadra worship ether side of great war end bad for dunmer empire and dominion have no remorse for deadra worshiper

 

also the dunmer in windhelm have them selves to blame they let that alley get that way they also have not earn the respect from the local nord of that area if they did ulfric would have no reason to not give them aid so long as the dunmer contribute to the city or war

 

also the legion general in skyrim is out right bigot so no way i am siding with that n'wah
