I'm working on a very ambitious companion mod. I have very little experience with the Creation Kit but I seemed to have managed to pick it up rather quickly and using the vanilla companions as a template seems to be working fine, at least so far what I've managed to do is working.

 

Anyway I am trying to make a fully voiced Nora as a companion (and possibly Nate for female characters but we'll see how Nora goes first) and I want to incorporate her into the game as an actual companion is with a little custom quest to obtain her and all that. But she'll be interjecting in conversations, communicating with fellow companions when swapping them out, commenting on events during and after quests, etc. Everything a vanilla companion does, I want her to do. So far I've managed to get her into the game and act like a follower, respond to commands, and respond to the swapping of followers but I have a hell of a lot of work ahead of me and I'm starting to burn myself out.

 

So any words of encouragement or suggestions as to how I should go about my schedule (since I'm basically spending the next 6+ hours after work every day on this mod) would be greatly appreciated. XD

 

Tips as to how to go about certain aspects would also be helpful. Like if there is an easier way to do something specific that normally would take a few hours or something lol.

neat! that does sound interesting.

I heartily recommend checking out kesabelus's approach to companion revival,

as their nate variant is fairly hilarious.

this could be a fun mod combo resonance...

 

(envisages 'Gary clone" sole survivor family replete with the Brady Bunch mod which allows 0 to 6 companion descendants...

a couple of nates, a couple of noras, "sole-town" where V75 used to be... it'd be fun)

 

my FO4 codefu is not strong,

so I'm afraid I won't be of too much use there for companions coding hehe.

though, I do have some ideas to keep in mind which follow;

 

 

 

considering the special situation of, 2 nates or 2 noras,

in addition to the Nora and Nora or Nate and Nate...

some of the dialogue from the male banter sets might be applicable in those and vice versa

for some scenarios.

If you can get codsworth to do the flabbergasted audio (from the initial encounter when he's surprised to see you 200 years later and not aged a day)

that would also be awesome, but as yet I've not seen mods that alter that AND the companion.

Codsworth doesn't seem to recognize that both of the sole survivors have survived...

much less, take a family photo when they're all reunited at The Institute.

 

one further thing,

the affinity - if you could have different affinity profiles for the companion -

ie, one is 'evil', one is 'neutral', one is 'good',

and have those as separate variants,

I think that will boost your mods utility and appeal immensely for some folks hehe.

a variant audio idea in futures;

"charlie brown" or "simlish" audio - no distinct aural phonemes, just 'noises',

it is hilarious for a lot of situations.

 

autotuned voices - another hilarious one, especially if the sample board/chatbot is made with a vocoder.
