The13thBlackCat
Okay, so I skimmed around to see if there was already a post like this, but I didn't find anything. If there is, I'm sorry! Anyway, part of my forays into the CK have involved making new NPCs, and editing one existing one. For the existing one, all I did was change her race from Nord to Dark Elf. She looks fine, except for one issue: she still has her old Nord skin-tone. It's quite distracting, as you can imagine. In the CK, she looks exactly like she should, but in-game she looks fine (right facial features and hair style/color) except her skin. The two custom NPCs I'm working with right now are a Dark Elf and a Khajiit, and they both have the same problem: they look right in the CK, but in-game they're lacking any warpaint/make-up/markings. The Khajiit's entire face is actually a shade or two darker than her body, too, but it's only her. I thought it might be a texture or mesh issue, so I took out my many many texture/mesh replacers and it didn't change anything. At this point I'm at a loss, and it's very frustrating. As you can guess, I'm very new to modding, so I wouldn't be surprised if this is some silly, obvious little issue that's just going over my head. Any help is greatly appreciated! clintmich
I'm having the exact same issue with NPC edits. I looked for a solution as well and was at a loss. Looking forward to seeing a reply here with some answers. Thanks for starting this thread.
gsmanners
I think the fix for this is to make sure your plugin is exactly the way you want it, then ESM-ify it (I forget the best way to do this). Then reload CK with your ESM and select the NPCs you want to add. Then press Ctrl-F4 (export face textures or something like that). That should give you what you need to have consistent head and body tint.
The13thBlackCat
Thank you so much, gsmanners! I'll give that a try and see if it fixes things.
BackAtTheRanch
To clarify, for an existing npc, you need only export the facial textures. You need only ESM-ify for the new npcs. I don't know if this is all one mod file you're creating, but I thought I should mention it in case they were separate, as making masters is something to avoid if you don't need to do it.
