keeperxiii
Hello there, I recently installed the GOTY of Oblivion to try out the game with mods since the game seems to be so much better with them. And here's my problem, I'm getting 20-25 fps in towns and even 15 fps when I'm in the woods. Here's my specs, which should be more than enough to run Oblivion: Windows 7 64 bitIntel Dual Core 2.16 GhzNvidia Geforce 9300m GS 256 MB4gb RAM (2x2gb)and plenty of HD space275.33 nvidia drivers and all other games run fine. Here are my active mods: Oblivion mainShivering IslesKnights of the nineOBSE and plugins to paly the modsoblivion script optimizationunnoficial shivering isles patchunnoficial oficial mods patchUnique Landscapes compilation (latest version and all the files it depends on)Better Cities (latest version and all the files it depends on like the Resources and Permanent resources files)Unique landscapes and better cities compatibility patchMart's Monster Mod (latest version and all the files it depends on)Deadly Reflex (latest version and all the files it depends on, including NIF patch)Darnified UINatural EnvironmentsGuard Overhaul Here's what I've tried: Setting all video settings to lowsetting performance mode in nvidia control panelforcing vsync on and off in the nvidia control panelDefragmenting the hard drivedownloading and using the unnoficial patches and the stuttering fixreplacing the shaders so that the game properly recognizes my graphic card since I've heard that the game doesn't recognize newer cards as it shouldrunning the game with and without a modded Oblivion.INI (My modded .INI has some tweaks to turn of some effects and use multiple threads)running the game with and without some mods (I don't want to turn them all off since I'm afraid it might cause problems, and all of this seems to have no effect on the fps) -------------------------------------------------- All of this made a difference of exactly 0.00 fps on my game. The most I can do is set the resolution to 800x600 or 1024x768 which gives me some 15+ fps but that's far from a fix (plus, it strains the eyes) Can anyone please help me? I don't know what else I can do to get this god awful engine running smoothly. Kudos(seriously) to anyone who can help me Edited February 18, 2012 by keeperxiii
eric31415
You may not have a lot of mods installed, but you do have some big FPS-killers there... Unique Landscapes - you may have to pick-and-choose. The esps that add big forests are the biggest offenders.Better Cities - Especially if you use the "open" version.MMM - AI eats up a lot of processor power, and MMM adds a lot of NPCs and creatures.Natural Environments - You may want to drop Natural Vegetation. You may be able to get by with one, maybe two of the above, but in combination they will put a hefty load on your computer. Keep in mind that your specs barely scrape by for Oblivion, so you will have to be very selective about what you install. And stay away from big texture replacers like QTP3, they are made for burlier machines. To get the best performance you can, try the following; 4gb Patch - raises Ob's RAM capStreamline - made to help borderline machines run ObAdd a ReadyBoost cache - it's as simple as inserting a flash drive or SD card, opening it's properties, selecting the ReadyBoost tab, and selecting "dedicate this device to ReadyBoost", but this can help tremendously. You can gain a lot from ini tweaks also, but that's a ton more info... check out the TweakGuides Edited February 20, 2012 by eric31415
Rennn
You won't get much better than that with those mods on that CPU.
