onson Posted February 18, 2012 Posted February 18, 2012 In Oblivion there was a tdt command you type in the console and display your characters current location or cell coordinates. I want put a house in game , and in Oblivion I would roam around, find a spot, go back to the construction set and go to that particular cell. However in Skyrim I cant seem to find a way to do this. There is no TDT command to display the location in game
Susurruss Posted February 18, 2012 Posted February 18, 2012 There is no longer a command to determine cell in-game. An industrious modder has made some nice coordinate maps though: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=2251
onson Posted February 18, 2012 Author Posted February 18, 2012 You confirmed what I was afraid of :( That definitely sucks. Thanks for the pointer to that mod , Im downloading it now, certainly better than nothing..
onson Posted February 25, 2012 Author Posted February 25, 2012 So does anyone know a way to find your coordinates in game? I'm looking for a place to build a house but god damn this is a pain in the ass not knowing where you are when you go back to the editor.
jet4571 Posted February 25, 2012 Posted February 25, 2012 Easiest way i know of is find the closest named location like a farm or a cave then open that up in tamriel and move in the direction of the spot you want until you locate it. you need to remember some landmarks such as a group of rocks, a log, and a stream that surround the spot.
onson Posted February 26, 2012 Author Posted February 26, 2012 yeah thats what i've been doing, but man I am so pissed that Bethesda left out the debug commands for cell coordinates!! I just cant freakin get over it. I may post a thread for house location recommendations or something to give me some ideas.
masterofshadows Posted March 20, 2012 Posted March 20, 2012 Seriously? There's no way to see cell coords in-game? That blows.
provio Posted March 20, 2012 Posted March 20, 2012 Open console and click any object in game for it's ID. Then in CK Edit > Find text > search for the ID, result will be under objects tab which you can click to take you in that cell.

Works like a charm, thanks Provio

I use it all the time when looking for a location to add an entrance to a cave or place a building.
