Mod Request for harder Insanity difficulty

So this thread is kind of old, but I've been looking at the files inside Frosty Editor and I think I might be able to answer OP's question.

First off, you're gonna need the Frosty Tool Suite for MEA

Secondly, everything I learned was from the files in this "mod": http://www.nexusmods.com/masseffectandromeda/mods/248/? I'm just going to hopefully break it down into something quick and easy.

This file I attached :

So, steps:

  1. Download and extract the Frosty Tool Suite, and start up the Frosty Editor
  2. Point the editor to your Andromeda executable (almost certainly in C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Mass Effect Andromeda)
  3. Wait for it to finish processing the cache
  4. On the right-side, in the navigation window, expand the game folder, then click on exceldataimports
  5. In the window below that, double-click on 'playerstats'
  6. That will open up the 'playerstats' file in the main window of the program, though right now everything will be collapsed.
  7. Open up the excel spreadsheet in the zip file I attached. I got the spreadsheet from the tutorial mod I linked to, but I've filled in the field values to make it easier to match them to what you see in Frosty Editor.
  8. From here, it should be pretty self-explanatory. Modify any fields you wish. If you want to make it harder, you could increase the shield or health regen delays. You could disable health regen altogether by setting the Max Regen Health % (value #3) to 0.
  9. To make it easier to come back and edit these values, save your project.
  10. To see these changes in game, you can either click 'Launch' from inside the Editor, or (and this is necessary if you have other mods), use the 'Export to Mod' option and then drag the generator .fbmod and .archive files into Frosty Mod Manager and enable them from there.

That should get you started, but if you need more help, I would encourage you to check out the other files in the zip file I attached. Two of them are the .fbmod and .archive files I generated from decreasing the Shield Regen Delay (value #6) from 8 to 2. Opening it in Frosty Mod Manager will allow you to view the description I wrote as well as see the file I changed. The other file is .fbproject. If you'd like, instead of navigating to playerstats manually, you can open up that file and it will ONLY show you the playerstats file, since that's the only one I edited. Keep in mind, that my reduction of Shield Regen Delay will be shown in this file, so you won't be starting from a vanilla state, but once you change Field 6 back to '8', you'll be back to vanilla.

Oh, one last thing, if you open the .fbproject file, like I said, it will only show you the files I've modified. But if you want to use that as a starting point and then modify other stats (like maybe gunstats), you can just uncheck the box at the top of the navigation window that says "Show only modified".

Hopefully this is a help. I'm no expert, but if you have any questions, hopefully I can assist.

Thanks for the guide, bikeracer. I was able to increase the hazardous area tick rate, the last value in your spreadsheet. For anyone wondering, bigger number apparently means faster life support drain. Not really sure what else exactly I'd change about the core stats besides maybe spare ammo to increase the game difficulty reasonably. However, it looks like someone would have to change the value of every individual gun to pull that off? Anyway, going to keep playing to see how this goes.

Guys try this mod:

https://www.nexusmods.com/masseffectandromeda/mods/483/?tab=1&navtag=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.nexusmods.com%2Fmasseffectandromeda%2Fajax%2Fmoddescription%2F%3Fid%3D483%26preview%3D&pUp=1

it sounds like something I wanted to achieve.

I am installing MEA back onto my PC currently so I can try this mod and possibly tweak it from there.

Been using Nightmare mode but let me tell you, if you take one shot your shields are gone and likely 3/4 of your health. It's a very unforgiving mod. I've tweaked his shields from 50 to 100, I might increase base health a little as 5 is so low it's crazy

Hey Echelon, would the game be possible to beat with his mod on Insanity or would it need fine tuning for it to not be impossible?

It's hard to say, I wouldn't say impossible but keep in mind I had high level hyperguardian armour with shield boosting augmentations and I'd still go down in one two shots from a standard Kett footsoldier.

I've currently been playing with 100 max shield strength with slow regeneration, I'll take two shots to bring my shields down but one more and I'm dead. With no health regen. It's still extremely hard but I'm not dying every minute, maybe every 5 minutes

I'm also playing with the balanced guns mod to reduce bullet sponge in insanity, but it's still obvious that enemy A.i or the number of enemy spawns is what will make this game harder
