leirynot
It seems kind of broken to me, you take the 2H weapon or dual swords for extra melee damage at the sacrifice of being able to use magic and blocking effectively (you can block with 2H weapons, but it is not as good as blocking with a 1H one or shield), you can also take a shield or just a 1H weapon to block better at the cost of more damage. The whole point of this is to balance the game in terms of abilities, to be able to use both a 2H weapon and do a lot of melee damage and use magic to deal damage at range is kind of broken. While I agree that there should be a conceptual trade-off, a rough balance could be achieved by tweaking numbers.. But I doubt they want anything toned down. However, there is also the balance through skills. A fighter/mage will not have as high skill levels as a pure fighter or a pure mage. EDIT: That last balance mechanic may not be very effective, actually, since levelling is slower and slower. A fighter mage may be 50/50 in two-hand/destruction while a pure class may only be 65? I don't know the specifics.. Edited February 28, 2012 by Lokiron
